Mi Primer Aniversario // My First Anniversary December 8, 2019 marks the first day I started taking guests in my own Sola Salon Studio. December 8, 2020, I’m home due to the Safe At Home Order.... so I’m definitely doing self care for myself today. I’m definitely in my feels, haha! I’ll tell you that for sure. Feeling a lot of different emotions. I’ve been reflecting a lot about this past year & this experience. ... Being a proud daughter of immigrants, I always want to make my parents proud. I’m the first in my family to start her own business. However, the way I see it... it’s my families first business. My family has been my back bone to everything. They truly have helped me in every aspect.. whether it was allowing me to live back home to save up for barbershop studio & mom making me dinner when I’d come home late from work. My dad being my handy man & my siblings helped with me my logo, the name, my decor/ business cards, etc. My family has always been there for me in all ways that they could be. I’ll tell you this... it’s not always easy being the Boss, the Manager, the Barber, the Receptionist, the Janitor, the Social Media Specialist .... all while managing your personal life. I can’t tell you how many times my family has seen me stressed, anxious, or depressed. But I’ve been privileged to have a family who has been there for me, giving me pep talks of how they are so proud & believe in me. Especially with starting a business in the middle of a pandemic. Para mi familia gracias por todo. Kara, my best friend. You’ve been there when I thought I’d be an architect to now a barber. Thank you for the genuine friendship & the support you’ve continuously been doing. Thanks for putting up with my texts & FaceTiming when asking about my decor! Haha! Thank you for all love you’ve been giving me. I appreciate you so much. To my partner, Martin. Thank you for being understanding & supportive throughout this. Coming home late from work to dinner & flowers, helping me clean my studio so I can come home sooner, or hearing me vent when I have heavy days. You truly are a blessing. Gracias mi amor. To my guests, thank you for allowing me to your barber I feel honored. People who I’ve become very close to. I’m lucky to hear about your days, I get to be there for your special days in life as well as days that are tough. Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for supporting me & my business. For the 3rd time.... I’m temporarily closed down due to the Safe At Home Orders.. I appreciate every single one of you for supporting my small business before covid and during the shutdowns.
