Wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a worldwide symbol against the misconceptions about sexual violence. Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which occurs each April, is about more than just raising awareness of sexual violence. Our Officer's will be wearing jeans this week to help in those efforts. If you see one of our Officer's within the County please feel free to say hello!

We are feeling very thankful! Over the last week we have found homes for 23 dogs and cats! I want to send a big thank you to our adoption coordinator for all the work to make this happen, our medical staff for all the exams and surgeries performed, our office staff for helping all the families and their documentation, and our kennel staff for caring for all the animals that come into our care. Lastly, one huge THANK YOU to our community who responded greatly to our post about... the cats we had available! This gives all of us much to be thankful for Thanksgiving. There is still much to do though. We still have dogs and cats looking for their new forever home. The pictures attached are just a few of those still waiting. If you are interested in adopting please call (707) 263-0278 to make an appointment. We will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th for Thanksgiving. Appointments can be made when we return. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Lake County Animal Care and Control! As a reminder, we will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th.

ATTENTION! - Feline Panleukopenia Outbreak in Nice Area Lake County Animal Care and Control has recently seen a breakout of feline panleukopenia in the area of Pyle Road to Lincoln Street in the Nice area. Feline panleukopenia is a highly infectious disease that can infect all wild and domestic members of the cat population. Infected cats can shed large amounts of the virus in all body secretions including feces, vomit, urine, saliva, and mucus. The primary signs of infection include anorexia, lethargy, profuse watery to bloody diarrhea, and vomiting. Feline panleukopenia requires immediate and aggressive treatment for survival. Infection can be fatal in less than 24 hours. Prevention is vital to protect your cats. We recommend that cat owners in the area contact their veterinarian for specific vaccination recommendations.
