On 4/29, please join us for the "From Saigu to George Floyd: Asian Americans and the Meaning of Allyship" Webinar. KAC joins CKA, AAAJ and the Korea Society as co-hosts for this webinar. Marking the 29th anniversary of the 1992 #LARiots, this distinguished panel of civic leaders will discuss the current state of race relations, the rising tide of anti-Asian American hate incidents and the importance of #allyship among communities of color. What more can our communities do to... collaborate across racial and ethnic boundaries to address racial tensions? How can we energize #AAPI communities to work more in allyship with other communities around other issues like voting rights or education equity? This conversation will explore strategic and practical ways our communities can work together to address the deep-seated racial tensions in the United States. The panel discussion will be moderated by Connie Chung Joe, CEO, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles. The featured panelists will include: -Michael Lawson, President / CEO, Los Angeles Urban League -Angela Oh, Senior Attorney, California Dept of Fair Employment and Housing -Alvina Yeh, Executive Director, Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) Register today at: http://bit.ly/saigu-allyship ______________________________ Hosted by the Council of Korean Americans (CKA), Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles, Korean American Coalition - Los Angeles, and The Korea Society.
Happy Presidents Day!
All of us here at #kacla wish you a happy and healthy Lunar New Year, ("Seollal"). Seollal is one of the most celebrated days among Korean holidays. On this day, various traditional events like eating rice cake soup ("tteok-guk") and games like "Yutnori" are held to wish for a blessed new year. Also, 2021 is "Shin-chook-nyun ()" meaning the year of White Ox. Traditionally in Korea, white Ox symbolizes 'good luck' and 'guardian' believing them to have a divine energy that defeats negative energy. We hope this year will bring good luck, good health and great prosperity in 2021! ! #KAC #KACLA # #lunarnewyear #YearoftheOx # #2021
