Living Life for KOG Youth 05/25/2018(Fri.) Salvation and Peace... [(Psalm) 85:1-13] 1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. 2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. 3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger. 4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease. 5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? 6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. 9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. 10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. 12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase. 13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps. Thanksgiving for His Grace (85:1-7) In the past, God showed favor to His people and forgave them of their sins. But they are facing His fierce anger and wrath because they have continued to sin against Him. In this community lament, the people ask the LORD to grant them His sovereign grace once again and to put away His displeasure toward them. They ask Him to show them His unfailing love and to grant them His salvation. steadfast love of God gives hope to those who struggle against sin. We are never too far to receive His grace. Those who repent and turn back to God will experience the joy of His grace and the power of His forgiveness. Walking in Righteousness (85:8-13) Salvation and peace are gifts that the LORD gives to those who fear Him. To experience these gifts, however, they must abandon their sinful behavior. The salvation of God is driven by His steadfast love and faithfulness and is grounded in His truth. Through His salvation, God makes us righteous and grants us peace. In all this, we see that the LORD is faithful to sow good seeds so that His people will yield a good harvest. God desires His people to walk in righteousness and to bear good fruit. As we walk in obedience to His ways, may we produce good fruit and reflect His righteousness everywhere we go. Prayer Dear God, thank you for the gift of salvation and peace in my life. Help me to walk in greater righteousness so that I may bear more fruit for Your kingdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Living Life for KOG Youth 05/22/2018(Tue.) The Perfect Justice of God... [(Psalm) 82:1-8] 1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. 2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations. Indifferent to Injustice (82:1-4); In this psalm, God judges the corrupt leaders of Israel, sarcastically referred to as "gods." They have betrayed the cause of the weak, fatherless, poor, and oppressed by defending the unjust and showing partiality to the wicked. The leaders have been arrogant and selfish, desiring the praises of man rather than serving the people. They are not exempt from the consequences of their indifference. Although it appears that the powerful continue to wreak havoc on the innocent and powerless, it is clear that God cares about the marginalized and that He will not allow evil to prevail against them. God has promised that one day, He will render His perfect judgment on those who do evil against the defenseless. The Judge of the Earth (82:5-8); The so-called "gods" are ignorant and devoid of any understanding of God's justice. This is ironic because the leaders claim to be serving God as His children, and yet they have no idea about God's true intentions concerning the subject of justice. As a result, God has promised to call them to account and pass judgment over them. God is the ultimate Judge and Ruler, and all others are subject to Him. There is no power, be it physical or spiritual, that is capable of preventing His perfect will from coming to completion. We are called to remember and trust in the sovereignty of God, even during times of hardship and seeming hopelessness, knowing that He will bring about justice throughout the earth. Prayer God over all creation, help me to trust in Your sovereignty even when the world seems grim. Help me to trust in the fact that You are working out all things according to Your good purpose. In Jesus' name. Amen.
