Let's learn a little more about Kobe! "Kobe, a beautiful port city in West Japan home to 1.5 million, lies just 20 minutes or so from Osaka and an hour’s flight from Tokyo. Synonymous with style, mountains and its seafront setting, it is perhaps most famous for its namesake beef and offers a wealth of attractions for all visitors..." https://www.feel-kobe.jp/en/about/

Many of you likely already presumed this, but we're sad to officially confirm that the Kobe Seijoh High School/Monterey Bay Homestay Program will not be happening again this summer. We so look forward to the world healing from the pandemic so travel is safe and we can host the program once again in the Summer of 2022! Please keep us in mind in your 2022 summer plans. The program generally runs middle(ish) of July through the beginning of August. We'll post updates as so...on as we know more about next year's program! Thank you for your past support of and/or participation/interest in this wonderful program! All the best from the Kobe Monterey Homestay Team!
Finding flexible ways to move forward. #dangcovid
Bummer times, but we will get through this!
Our family sat together today, on the day the Kobe kids & teachers were supposed to arrive, reminiscing about our last few years participating in the program. It has been such a delight every summer for us and we were so excited to help plan the program this year. All of the students we have hosted over the years have truly become a part of our family. We are so sad that the global health crisis prevented us from hosting the program here on the Monterey Bay this year. Th...e Kobe Seijoh High School students who were supposed to take the epic trip here this summer are, of course, so disappointed, also. Fingers crossed for next year! Just wanted to reach out & check in with you all. Hope you, your family, and your friends are staying healthy & happy. Sending good juju out to the world! Take care, - tara & the devlin jr clan - #kobehomestay
It's with great sadness, but enormous precaution, that we must cancel this summer's Kobe Seijoh High School/Monterey Bay Homestay Program. This wonderful program has been going strong on the Peninsula for over 30 years. We are so disheartened that, due to this global pandemic, the 55 students and several teachers who planned to come experience the USA for a few weeks this summer will not be able to make the trip. We will so miss having them here on the Monterey Peninsula w...ith us. If we all do our part to #flattenthecurve now, hopefully the world will heal sooner rather than later. We look forward to continuing with our program in the Summer of 2021! Thanks for understanding! * What is your favorite part about participating in the Kobe program? What will you miss the most? * #stayhome #staysafe #travelcanwait #widenyourworld #becommunityminded #weareallconnected #socialdistancing2020 #alonetogether #forthegreatergood #doyourpart #mindsetmatters

Happy New Year to all our Kobe kids & teachers as well as our Kobe host families here on the Peninsula. It’s been 2021 in Japan for a few hours now. They certainly know how to ring in a new year! https://youtu.be/9JYc9tiY_IE
We might not be able to travel there right now, but click here to learn a little about Kobe! https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2159.html
The time has come for our wonderful Japanese students to head home (via Disneyland). We're going to miss them so much! Host families: please, please, please arrive ON TIME at 7am Monday (8/5) at the Safeway in Del Rey Oaks... corner of Fremont & Canyon Del Rey...815 Canyon Del Rey Blvd, Del Rey Oaks, CA 93940. We're sorry it's so early, but it would help tremendously if everyone gets there on time, so the kids can get started right away on the next part of their adventur...e. The buses can't leave until all the students are there, so please make sure you're there at 7am. Thank you! Also, the students will be provided a sandwich & drink for their lunch tomorrow, but sending your students with some additional snacks for the road is a really nice thing to do! We appreciate all that you've done to make this exchange program a life-changing one for your students! Hope you've had an amazing time, too!
It's GRADUATION DAY!! Looking forward to the student performances and speeches this afternoon!
We're looking forward to when we can host Kobe Seijoh students here on the Monterey Peninsula again! We so missed them this summer! https://www.seijoh.ac.jp/01_3_03overseas_education.html (You can translate the page to English.)
What a year it's been! We hope things will begin to feel a bit more "normal" next year, but we'll just have to be patient and do our part to curb the spread. https://soranews24.com//japan-to-reopen-to-international-/

Welcome to the 60+ students from Kobe Seijoh High School in Japan who arrived in the Monterey Bay area and met their host families today! The next 2+ weeks is bound to be a fun, life-changing experience for everyone involved! #kobehomestay July 21, 2019
TODAY'S THE DAY!!! We look forward to seeing all the host families today at 2:30pm at Santa Catalina School (1500 Mark Thomas Dr, Monterey)! Look for the Kobe banners! Excited to see all your creative welcome signs! Make sure to include your students' names on them, so they know who their family is when they climb off the bus. We'll welcome our students when they arrive (hopefully around 3 depending on traffic) and then have a quick orientation in the Study Hall before everyone heads off with their expanded family!
