We are planting extra birds today and next Friday. We understand hunting has been a little tougher with the new birds and wanted to give our members a better chance at finding birds. The extra birds are coming from a different supplier. The majority of the birds planted will be from the supplier we've used the rest of the season. Word that we're getting is that the birds hold harder and are slower to flush than the birds we've had in past years. Hunters who are having success are going slower, working the same area more than once, and are letting their dogs work an area good if they get birdy at all. Good luck and we hope you have a fun hunt.

We're having a work day on March 28 to clean bird boxes and maintain equipment we use for the pheasant season. KLSC relies on volunteer labor to operate. Please come by to pitch in to keep our pheasant hunting program going!

We will be planting pheasants on Friday to hunt this week. A couple of reminders: 1. hunting is not allowed on plant days. 2. Do not drive on farmer roads when they are wet. We only have a place to hunt because farmers allow us access to their fields. We may loose access if their roads become damaged. We've had a few reports of people on farmer roads and will be increasing out patrol this weekend. Thanks you and have fun out there!

We have received multiple complaints about the amount of birds being planted this year and we hear you. We are planting the same number of birds this year as the last few years. A total of 2,000 birds over five plant days, 400 birds per plant. We do have a new bird supplier this year. Our previous supplier leased his operation out and the new lessors somehow killed all the birds over the summer. This caused us to scramble late in the ordering process to find another suppli...er. We have noticed differences with these birds: 1. These birds are much larger than the previous birds and less willing to flush. 2. They tend to run and double back on you. Let your dogs work the area multiple times if they seem birdy. I ran one a couple hundred yards Saturday with two dogs and it managed to give us the slip until I backtracked that spot and pinned it down. Bear with us while we investigate this more. Also feel free to let us know where you had success and where you did not.

We will be planting birds today for the long weekend. Next Friday 12/6 is tentative as the forecast is calling for rain all next week. We will keep everyone posted. Also a reminder the daily DFG limit is 3 birds. We have had a couple reports of over harvest. If you do witness an over harvest do not hesitate to call the cal-tip poacher hotline. 1-888-334-2258. This is not how we want to run the club or the culture we want to foster. Have a happy thanksgiving, be s...afe and shoot straight!!! -KLSC

We hope you and your family are doing well. Due to the COVID pandemic, we are behind on printing membership forms for this upcoming pheasant season. Rest assured that we are a go for the 2020 season and are working to get applications in the mail as soon as we are able. Applications are available at our webpage: www.klscpheasants.com. You can either print an application and send it in with payment to KLSC, PO Box 5, Woodland, CA 95695 or pay online. We expect to mail app...lications out within the next month. As you know, everything is just a little harder to do this year. With that in mind, getting your application and payment to us early will greatly help us out, but we understand if you are not able to do so. Membership fees will be the same this year as in past years. We may have to raise membership fees marginally in the future due to increasing expenses, but we understand this year is tough for a lot of people and didn’t want to make any changes this year. As always, we appreciate you hunting with us and hope you have a good year. Thanks! Knights Landing Sportsmen’s Club
