KNA Structural Engineers is honored to work alongside TLS Choice and P-Line Consulting to create a series of DSA Pre-Checked (PC) buildings. The PC buildings have already been designed to work anywhere in California and include three different classroom configurations and three different MPR/Gym configurations. The building requires almost zero field welding, including SidePlate Systems's Bolted Moment Frame connection that greatly improves the speed of construction. Congratulations to the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) San Luis Obispo ARCE / EERI Seismic Design Competition Team! They placed 2nd Overall out of 46 participating teams in the International Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition at the 2020 EERI Annual Meeting in San Diego. The team was led by former KNA intern Ryan Millward, and included another former KNA intern, Nick Slavin. KNA was proud to be one of the team sponsors. Great job!

This bridge may look futuristic, but the design is actually over 500 years old! Using a Leonardo da Vinci drawing and a 3D printer, these engineers at MIT produced a model of what this bridge might have looked like and also tested its stability.
