Yesterday started with an early text that Faith and Piper were now romping around the KF grounds instead of participating in Mama Su’s meticulously planned transport north. It took a dark turn with a call from a landscaper who had discovered a kitten crying beside a deceased mama cat and then spun comedic with a report that someone had drilled out a lock at work and stolen an empty ATM and a two shots less than full bottle of Patron from Mama Renee’s stash. All of this by... 10:30 AM. With Jackpot’s help, the crew corralled Faith (no Piper), sent the transport one short and hustled over to the location of the kitten in distress. Once we found the culvert, Joey recovered not one but FIVE kittens and mom (RIP) from the "black widow heaven" and sprinted back to Mr. Mom the lot. As for the ATM theft, the only items taken were the ATM and tequila, the latter likely pinched for celebration, or given the lack of cash in the former, solace. With the work crew waiting for PD, I headed back to brace for Mama Su’s discovery that Piper was still onsitesomewhereas were five hungry bottle babies. As you can imagine, she was thrilled and offered that I can’t close my eyes for an hour without you finding more drama and you better start watching Kitten Lady videos. It didn’t help that Joey gave me up like the DA had flipped himIt was all Kyle’s idea. I was only following orders and Cori chiming in that all the fun stuff happens on her day off. In any event, until they make KMR with an automatic feeder, we could use some help finding a foster or surrogate mom to help with the newbies. Like everyone else, we're beyond full at this point. Thanks in advance...and yes, Piper’s backhungry...

We grew up in the 1970s having our thinking sharpened by the geniuses behind Gilligan’s Island, the Brady Bunch, Charlie’s Angels and all sorts of mindless sitcoms. Forty-something years later, a nifty 65 Samsung has replaced the old Panasonic black and white and our taste has evolved to the likes of Ozark and Ray Donovan, but our days are what you might expect if you locked those 70s writers in a room with a case of Fresca and told them to bang out a series based on a home...-brewed animal rescue. One day we’re a MASH episode, the next day we're the Beverly Hillbillies, with a cast and crew that’s a little bit of both. The last two weeks have been all 4077th...Wolfie, a sweet gray long-hair from Dinuba left for dead with two broken legs but his spine and digestive system intact, Chloe, a kitten with a broken hip and nasty ear mites, Mama, an older female with a broken hip and hock and gruesome lacerations, Hector, a jumbo ginger with a bad eye, and Bob, who spent the last five years scrounging for scraps beneath a rancid dumpster. Anywhere else they be euthanized, but our script said they get the surgical repairs, medical treatment, vaccinations, tests, spay/neutering and safety they deserve...so that's what we delivered to the audience. Alas, our up through the ground came a bubblin’ crude has slowed to a trickle with COVID-19 and until we can get that moneymaker back on the air, we could use your help with this production. The good news is your donations work. Over the same two weeks We’ve vetted, transported and placed dozens of kittens through our partner outlets, including Mellow, a furry pixie that went from emergency Caesarian to remove stillborns to a comfy bed and belly rubs as our first San Francisco adoption. "Unadoptable pirate Niko is warming laps and hearts in his new home, "Unadoptable Nash won cat lotto and strutted into PetSmart on a leash for a lion cut, Harley’s broken jaw has healed and she’s every bit the beautiful calico we predicted she’d be, Twiggy is reorganizing the life and cabinets of the Good Samaritan who found her, Milo (93 comments and 11 shares in his call for help) is still FIV+ but otherwise as good as new, Buttercup and Jingle turned out to be false FELV+ prompting OMG, OMG, OMG! emoji-filled texts among the KF crew, Three FIP+ cats are showing progress in treatment, and Transport superstar Gilbero Romero and an elk both survived a 4:45 AM meet and greet on the road back from Oregon. The driver’s side mirror of the KF van? Not so much. If we’d grown up with Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, this series would probably have unsatisfying finales, but for now we’re committed to the 70s formula of campy comedy, light-hearted drama and happy endings. Enjoy the pics and thanks in advance for keeping us on the air!

The rules of feline futbol at House Kirkland are well-established through traditionyou swat a small, preferably noisy item back and forth and make sporadic sprints through a crinkle tunnel until boredom, hunger, or the litter guy yelling Enough! puts an end to the competition. The game is best played between 3 AM and dawn, there’s no limit on participants and the game ball can be pretty much anything. Cat toy, water bottle top, scrunchy, even a spent tube of terramycin w...Continue reading

Twiggy's Good Samaritan mom, Jill Hendrickson, came by for a visit yesterday. "OMG...She must be 10 times bigger than when I brought her in!" Active, friendly, purrs, no problem eating or breathing, scar's almost gone...and no pushover in the tower. Twiggy, that is...
