It is with incredible sadness that we inform you of the death of two KIPP Bridge Academy students. Candace Parks and Elijah Naidu passed away yesterday from injuries suffered in a tragic car accident. Their sibling, also a student at KIPP Bridge, and their mother are in the hospital with injuries. We are hopeful for their recovery, and our thoughts and heavy hearts are with their family and loved ones. Candace and Elijah were beloved members of our 2nd and 7th-grade classes, ...and their family has been a part of the KIPP Bridge community for years. They were happy, kind, and thoughtful young scholars who loved learning. They were deeply loved by both our staff and their peers, and they will be greatly missed. In this challenging time, it is important for us to continue to lean on one another and remember the power of team and family. This is shocking and heartbreaking news, and we all grieve in different ways. We are setting up virtual meetings to support students and other community members honor their classmates and process this loss. Professional counseling services are available to students and staff over the coming weeks to provide support to all who request it. If you have a child who may benefit from extra support at any time, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher, so we can help. Below are additional organizations to reach out to for grief support. We know that many of you may want to offer your support to the family. Candace and Elijah’s family is raising funds for memorial arrangements and medical expenses at this link. We will keep you informed about other opportunities to honor Candace and Elijah as the family informs us how they want them to be remembered. Thank you for supporting your child and our community during this difficult time of loss.

Good Morning Prospective KIPP Bridge Families, Today at 5PM we are having our lottery for the 2020-2021 school year! Out of an abundance of caution, we are adjusting this evening’s event to help keep our community healthy. Guided by Alameda County Department of Public Health recommendations to prevent the spread of coronavirus, we are discouraging families from attending the lottery in person. We ask that families join us instead on Facebook Live through our KIPP Bridge Upp...er School (Grades 5-8) Facebook page. This event will take place at KIPP Bridge and on Facebook Live at 5PM. Use this link to join the lottery virtually. All families will also be notified of their offer by email and letter immediately following the lottery.
