Summary of today's message. I always thought the dedication of Solomons' temple was for the Lord. However, in studying, the passage has enlighten me to understand it was not for the Lord, but for God's people, Israel. Solomons' temple was a place where the children of Israel could be heard when they offer prayers to their God. It was a place where Israels' needs were met with divine grace. A strong principle that stands out in this passage is God's fellowship. The Old Test...ament (as well the New) demonstrates this principle; God's presence with Israel in the wilderness, God's presence in the tabernacle, God's presence in the temple, and God's presence in the exile. Often in the Old Testament (as well the New) we run into the words God gives His chosen people, "I will be with you, I will walk with you, and I will be your God. The Lord's desire/passion is seeking fellowship with His people. Fast forward, Jesus refers to His body (when speaking about His "passion") as a temple, interesting, now Jesus is where God's presence dwells and it is through Jesus we can now have fellowship with God. Jesus, my friends is where human needs are met with divine mercy, grace, and forgiveness. See more
