Happy February! There are a number of special days this month, starting with Groundhog Day this past Tuesday. And, according to Punxsutawney Phil, there will be six more weeks of winter. For us, maybe we will have a bit more rain to help move us out of the current drought. We also have Lincoln's Birthday, Valentine's Day, President's Day, and Washington's Birthday this month. So, while our Guild meeting is still on hiatus this month, take a moment to enjoy and celebrate ...some of February's special days!! We are planning to meet in March at 10:00 a.m. via ZOOM! Although we are not meeting in person, it will be so good to "see" everyone online. Additional information will be coming out over the next few weeks regarding the link to sign in to Zoom for our March meeting. I can't wait to see you all!! Be sure to read the February Guild newsletter for a great article, "How to Clean the Sole Plate of Your Iron," as well as a reprint of Bonnie Hunter's article, "Amazingly Smart Idea for Sewing Uneven Strips." Both provide some excellent suggestions. Please don't forget, the 2021 Membership Dues of $25 are due by February 13. If you haven't had a chance to do so, you can mail in your dues to Linda W. The membership form, including Linda's mailing address are included in the newsletter. A Guild ID card will be sent to you upon renewal. Some quilt shops provide discounts to guild members but you may be asked to verify membership. Your Guild ID card will help with this. Since we are on hiatus from our monthly Guild meetings right now, a few changes have been made to the newsletter. You may have noticed the refreshment list has been dropped. It will reappear once we begin meeting together in the same physical space. The information on Secret Pals and UFO’s have also been suspended as have the information for the Row by Row with Julie S. and the Houses Challenge with Susan G. This doesn't mean you have to stop working on those projects though. If you'd like to share your progress with the Guild members, please feel free to post your project photos to our Facebook page. In hopeful anticipation of being able to gather together one of these days, the Guild is looking for someone to chair the Quilt Show. It is yet to be determined whether the show will occur in 2021 or 2022. If you are interested, please be sure to contact Guild president, Sheri C. All advertising payments are due by Feb.13, similar to Guild membership dues. Advertisements will be dropped as of the March newsletter for any non-payments. Birthday wishes go out to Guild members celebrating in February: Melanie A., Laurel J., Kathy W., Sally Z., June R., Lois S., Theresa C., Barbara H., Susan G., Bonnie N., and Carol C. We hope you all have a terrific birthday! Be sure to check out the various vendor advertisements in this month's newsletter! Have a great month!

We're moving into the age of "Zooming!" Because we are not able to meet together physically right now, the guild is going to try to meet on Zoom. If you haven't used the Zoom resource before, do not fret! We have an opportunity to learn all about Zoom. If you will highlight the address below, then copy and paste it into your browser address box, you will be taken to seniorplanet.org. They are going to host a "how to use Zoom video" tomorrow (Monday, February 1, 2021 from ...10:15 - 11:15 a.m., in preparation for our Zoom meeting in March. It is for seniors, so it should be easy for us to understand. To watch a Zoom video you do not have to download an app, you just have to go to Zoom.us. Hopefully this will help us all be prepared. This is going to be great!!!! https://seniorplanet.org/event/all-things-zoom-82/

Welcome 2021!!! Well, fiddle-dee-dee! While we had hoped that the current state of the pandemic would allow us to meet in January, that is certainly not the case. So, let's just say that in-person meetings are on hiatus until further notice! Have you seen the January newsletter? President Sheri C. report that the Board is working on 2021 activities. We may also have a Zoom meeting in place of our regularly scheduled February meeting. This will allow folks to "see" one ...another and even share some of the projects they have completed or are working on currently. Don't forget! You can be working on the House Challenge by Susan G. or the Row by Row project led by Julie S. The Row by Row project was started early last year but was put on hold so folks could catch up. If you need a pattern, please let Sheri C. know about that. Nina B is chair of the charity quilts. If you have some quilts to donate, they would be very much appreciated. If you are interested in QALs (quilt-a-longs), Sheri C. included six QAL's in her President's letter (all are at no charge). Those include: 1) gedesigns.com runs Jan 12th Feb 2nd. 2) fatquartershop.com Serendipity with Making a Wish Foundation starts Feb 1. 3) lisabongean.com American Quilters Stitch-along 4) rhondadort.com Vintage Linen Quilt begins in January 5) debbybrownquilts.teachable.com 6) quiltville.blogspot.com Grassy Creek Mystery has already started but you can still jump in. If you know of any other QALs, please send the information to Linda W. for inclusion in the monthly newsletter. Don't forget that membership dues are due by February 13th. The membership form is included in the newsletter. Be sure to check out the newsletter for the Guild Treasurer's Report and vendor advertisements. There is also a great article on a nifty way to keep your rulers from slipping and sliding as you are using them. Check it out! Happy birthday wishes to Pat R. and Ann M. who are celebrating January birthdays!! Happy birthday ladies! Stay safe; stay well!! Photo credits: https://unsplash.com/@nathanbang Photo by

Oh my goodness! Tomorrow is October 1st already. While it seems as if we've been dealing with the pandemic for a very long time, it also seems like the months are zipping by. Maybe that's a good thing this year! Given the current state of the pandemic, all Guild meetings for the balance of the year (October - December), including "An Affair to Remember" and the annual Christmas luncheon, are cancelled - on hiatus! Hopefully, we will be able to gather again after the first ...Continue reading
