Reverse Diagonal Parking Trial has begun! It is just a 2 month test to try it out. Reverse diagonal parking reduces serious collisions by eliminating the need to back out blindly into traffic. Bike safety is enhanced by enabling cyclists to make eye contact with a driver exiting a parking space. Since doors open toward the street, they block children from running into traffic. It increases safety and convenience for people loading and unloading items because the trunk is ad...jacent to the sidewalk instead of traffic. The concept was proposed to the City for consideration by the Blue Zones Project Monterey County, which is about to expand to King City. The Blue Zones Project is a program transforming communities in Northern America to increase health, longevity and well-being. The objective is to create an environment that supports and facilitates healthier lifestyles. If the City does decide to implement back-in parking, it is only being considered for Broadway Street from San Lorenzo Avenue to First Avenue. Diagonal spaces on the adjacent side streets would remain front-in parking. This would provide many parking alternatives for anyone who prefers not to use the back-in parking. On April 20th, Caltrans will be conducting a full closure of Highway 101 to repair damage to an existing guardrail at the San Lorenzo Bridge in King City. The ...closure will take place from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and traffic will be rerouted through King City via Broadway Street and First Avenue. Closure of southbound and northbound lanes will be alternated when the work is taking place. See more

On November 3, 2020 we said our goodbyes to Josie Piña. Josie began her career with the King City Police Department on April 19, 1999. Over the past 21 years Josie had served the City of King as the police department's Records Supervisor. In her role Josie became a face of the organization to many of those in need and who sought assistance from the police department. Her unwavering commitment and dedication to the City of King through the organizations trials and tribulations... was a testament to her character. We would like to thank Josie for all she gave and wish her the best in her future endeavors as she transitions from public service to the next chapter of her life! El 3 de noviembre de 2020 nos despedimos de Josie Piña. Josie comenzó su carrera en el Departamento de Policía de King City el 19 de abril de 1999.
