Epitome of the PP horse

Absolute truth in these words

okay....rant here...there is no such thing as a cheap bargain priced beginner safe trail, rope, rodeo or show horse......those are the horses that have thousand...s of dollars of training as well as thousands of hours of training and riding. They are forgiving to excessive kicks and jabs, they ignore when the direct rein is a bit "too" direct, they stand there when you forget to tighten the saddle and it slides sideways, they stand in the roping box, when you accidenly drop your rope, they finish that hind lead change, even though you are off center throwing them off balance, they rate themselves going over the cross rails, they adjust their stride to the trot poles, they stand there when you try to pull their manes for hours on end, much less band them....they walk down the trail, even when you are so busy chatting you don't notice the rabbit hole they just avoided for you. And for kids, they lower their head when they halter them, they stop when they notice the child stops, just because they are aware and alert....However for "cheap" or "inexpensive" I can find you a reiner that you'll have to ride through every lead change and will try to cheat circles or a rope horse that doesn't know the meaning of the world rate, or a jumper who has no idea how to adjust it's stride and thinks throwing a crowhop over a bounce is normal or a pleasure horse that dives in every corner or a trail horse that jiggs and rears if not always in the lead yet won't cross anything that isn't a groomed trail without following another horse. That resilient, forgiving, kind, beginner horse will always be worth every single penny you paid for it, be it for trails or show. If you are lucky enough to find one, regardless if they are 4 years old or 14 years old, black or white, registered or grade, buy them, before someone else sees the priceless gem and robs you of owning them. And if you think raising your own and sending it to a trainer for 90 days is going to result in a bombproof, beginner safe horse, you can let sit and ride once a week with no professional experience....I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona, to sell ya . I tell my clients, I can train any horse to be beginner safe, but I can’t make it a beginner horse if it’s not. And even the natural born bombproof type ones, take years, not weeks to develop into lifelong beginner safe partners. So before you pass up that teenaged, plain sorrel ugly headed gelding, think again, the years of training and experience that horse has is priceless!

Hello Everyone, I am reaching out because we would really like to have more Western saddles for the 2020 Horses' Honor Annual Tack Sale and it is only a few day...s away. If anyone has a Western saddle they would consider donating, please contact me at 901-481-5128 and I'll arrange a pick-up. The saddle does not have to be clean as we have a wonderful crew of folks who are cleaning everything. Plus there is a tax deduction form for your donation and in some cases, you can recover what you would have been able to sell the saddle for yourself. Your generous donation will provide stability for the sweet senior horses at their lifetime sanctuary and of course that is also a bonus. We volunteers are hard at work setting up the 2020 Horses' Honor Sale and it really is going to be a great sale. We have some incredible stuff to offer shoppers. Pre-shopping will happen on Fund-Raising-Friday for a $25 donation and shopping will be free Saturday and Sunday. Sunday everything will be 50% off. Please note that the venue has changed because of Covid. The sale will take place at 6600 Garden Bar Rd. in Lincoln on November 6th, 7th, and 8th, from 9-4 each day. We'll have a food truck there for anyone who is hungry! Directions in photo section. GCTC Members and friends come through for us every time, so please spread the word. The picture I have provided is from last year's sale. We'd love to be able to offer this many Western saddles again!

What is wrong with this picture? Answer: Nothing! Each winter we get many calls from people concerned after seeing horses with snow on their backs. If you see s...now building up on a horse’s back or rump, you are looking at proof that body heat is not escaping through the hair to melt the snow, and their coat is keeping them properly insulated. Also, the best way for a horse to stay warm is by eating! You can also see in this photo that the horse has access to a shelter, but is choosing to stay out in the snow and eat Photo credit: University of Minnesota
