BOTH / AND. Those two words by @yanpalmer defined the past three days at @photonative. I registered for @photonative a month before I got pregnant. Last year, I held up at @yeahfieldtrip during my first trimester, taking two planes and a car ride to learn and party in West Texas. Next year? No pregnancy exhaustion! A road trip down California’s coast! @photonative was going to be a breeze! The past three days, I felt the BOTH / AND. I felt:... Completely broken - (7.5 hours in a car filled with humans, dogs, and luggage will do that) - and stronger than ever. Oppressed by the responsibility of pumping every three hours and so so grateful for this healthy body of mine. Uncomfortable and elated. This photo was taken at a class shoot led by @wendylaurel. (Pinch me, I can’t believe I can say that.) She asked us to share what we wanted to gain from her class. I told her I wanted to shoot film only and to let go of the fear of messing up. She heard. She effortlessly created a safe, free flowing environment for her students. I shot only film. I let go of the fear of messing up and actually leaned into the mess. This is one of the BOTH / AND photos for me. Imperfect *and* sharp. A fuzzy focus and a perfect memento of my time in Santa Barbara. #iamaphotonative
