How does a tannery fit two lifesize bear, a large lifesize bison, three deer hides, and an antelope hide in one small box.
Prepping late tonight to mount these two monsters. Both are from the same hunter.
Finally got to mount one of my own.
I’m still putting together a trip to Africa in mid-June or so. Cost would depend on what you get but $5k would probably get the hunt costs covered for 5-7 pretty decent animals. Food and lodging would be included. Shipping hides back would run $1000-1500 depending and flights are about $900 right now. Let me know if you are interested. I’m only wanting to include 3 to 5 people so the numbers are low. The area we are hunting is pretty large but will mostly be hunting around water holes and I plan on taking my bow but you can use a rifle there of theirs or bring your own.
Enjoying a stogie with the boss.
Happy New Year! Any big hunting plans this coming year?Happy New Year! Any big hunting plans this coming year?
Two hogs just finished up. One super large b&w one and one very unusual pig that was born with one ear.
Just got these two deer in. 33 and 34 wide.
Merry Christmas!Merry Christmas!
I got this tiger in from 1941 for a restoration. The mouth had the real teeth and jaw but the teeth were all broken up and the mouthmade of plasterwas cracked along with the cracked and broken nose. I had to carefully take out and Chipaway the old mouth and reinforce everything and replace it all.
Still planning my trip to Africa next June. Let me know if anyone’s interested in information. It would be much more fun to travel with friends. I’m getting a pretty good deal on this hunt and definitely have the connections. And looking over all of the species, these are the species that interest me most. Tell me what would interest you the most. white springbok a blue black and golden Wildebeest, Tsessebe, Cape buffalo, bush buck, blesbuck, bontebuck, Eland, giraffe, lechwe, Nyala, Hartebeest, Roan antelope, sable antelope, waterbuck, Gemsbok, warthog, white and black blesbok, white and black Impala, zebra, Kudu.
I love getting cool and unusual specimens in.
Got these dropped off August 29 of THIS year. Quick turnaround. They were from Bitterwater Ranch with Clayton Grant.
Getting to work on something very few California taxidermists ever get in their shops.
D8 below Tulare and D9 are open for day use.
With the closure of so much of the state to hunting this season, I’m sure many of you are looking to get out there sometime. I’m planning a trip to Africa in late June. Let me know if you are interested. Much more fun with friends.
A great looking hog mount finished up.
Bison are soooo heavy. It will make a nice mount but my back is broken.
I got 7 animals in just today. The season has started big league.
The life of a taxidermist. I almost never do this anymore, but sometimes I literally put my blood and sweat into my work.
Got some great deer in already.
Not the best picture, but what a beast! Came in less than a couple months ago and already going home.
When someone asks, How can you eat Bambi?
