Kern Medical congratulates Internal Medicine Chief Resident, Dr. Serghei Burcovschii, as he has recently matched at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern Medical School for a Fellowship in Sleep Medicine. Kern Medical invited our media partners to view our State-of-the-art Simulation Center, where future medical professionals learn realistic, high-acuity medical procedures while also focusing on communication, collaboration and crisis management. This training uses simulation manikins whose major organ systems have been programmed to respond appropriately to a user's interventions. Kern Medical is excited to provide a new and innovative training technology where clinical staff are able to practice real-life patient scenarios. Thank you to our media partners who attended!

Our CSUB nursing students had the opportunity to visit our Simulation Center on their first day of orientation to Kern Medical. Our Nursing Shift Manager, Connie Green is going over suctioning procedures to clear the airways of our training manikins with the students. It was an interesting day for our students to get an overview of our new SIM center!

Kern Medical residents, nurses, and physicians worked together to film different real-life scenarios for Virtual Reality training. This type of training is set up in the "choose your own adventure" style, enabling the user, through VR, to make decisions and experience different outcomes based on those decisions. We are always finding new ways to educate and train our students, residents and nurses!

Kern Medical’s OB/GYN Chief-Resident Dr. Hirai-Adachi passed her FLS exam! FLS stands for Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery. The exam is comprised of two sections, a written portion and manual portion that evaluates skills based on efficiency and precision. This is a huge accomplishment that takes countless of hours of preparation in the SIM lab and honing their FLS skills. Congratulations, Dr. Hirai-Adachi we couldn’t be more thrilled!
