I thought fans of Kennington Jewelers would enjoy seeing the bracelet I had made for myself. There's a little story that goes with it. My "retirement" career is... writing, and when I was writing A Hero to Hold, I gave the hero, David Scott, red hair and compared the color to a penny. Then I thought--I'd better make sure England had pennies in 1856 and they were made of copper. So I found an online British numismatic store and did a little research. Learned quite a lot of interesting stuff about British coins and how they portrayed the sovereigns on them. It was fascinating, and I got involved, and ended up deciding that I should buy a British penny that my novels' characters, or Florence Nightingale, or Charles Dickens might have used. To me, it represented how far my writing had come, and how far I wanted to go. I bought this beautiful British penny, minted in 1851. I had Jeff Kennington put in a bezel and I wore it as a pendant, but I hardly ever wore it. It was heavy, and felt old-fashioned. Then last year I had the idea of turning it into a bracelet. Jeff Kennington and I put our heads together and Jeff designed and made this gorgeous bracelet for me. The face of the coin is young Queen Victoria, who was Queen when the coin was minted. They actually cast three different versions of Queen Victoria over the years of her reign: young, the matron, and the mature senior. I thought you'd enjoy seeing it.
