We’re having a blast training educators to teach our new code blue series at Kaweah! We’ve found that with train the trainer courses, hands on training is super... effective, allowing for these advanced learners to jump right in and practice their teaching. What tips do you have for train-the-trainer type courses? Post your ideas below! #trainthetrainer #teachtheteacher #facultydevelopment #kaweahdelta #codeblue #mockcodeblue #insitusimulation #simeducator #medicalsimulation #medicalsimulator #simulationeducation

Tuesday Talk with a Sim Coordinator. Let’s talk Surveys! If you build it they will come..right?When it comes to surveys not necessarily. Building the survey is just the start. The biggest hurdle seems to be to get someone to actually take it. Here are a couple of tips to help increase your survey response rates. Tip #1) offer an incentive. Tip #2) keep the survey short. Are there any tips you can give us with? We would love to hear from you. Please post your comments below. #survey #tuesday #tuesdaytalk #sim #coordinator #participation #tips #increase #incentives #shortsurveys #participationtips

Check out our camera system in action - this allows us to broadcast our sims to anywhere with internet access! As you can see, we have two different camera angles on the manikin, as well as a solo view of the monitor. We can switch these angles mid-session (i.e. in case of wanting to get a family member on camera or a procedure task trainer set up in a different corner of the room) in order to allow for the best viewing experience possible! How do you film your sim sessions?... Post your experiences below! #simsession #videorecording #simulationtechnician #simulationeducation #simtech #simulation #simulationinhealthcare #medicalsimulation #simview

Happy Whiteboard Wednesday! Today, post this quote from America's own National Youth Poet Laureate on your whiteboards to remind your learners to never stop looking for the light. As educators, we'd like to interpret this as ensuring that we are always creating an inquisitive environment in which our learners never want to stop asking questions and acting on their passions. What does this quote mean to you?... #amandagorman #amandagormanpoetry #nationalyouthpoetlaureate #poetryoninstagram #quotestagram #quotestoliveby #quoteoftheday #whiteboard #whiteboardwednesday #whiteboardwednesdays #educatorquotes #quotesabouteducation

In order to help increase awareness and use of our Simulation Center at Kaweah Delta, we started sending out quarterly newsletters, with contests in each one to... incentivize reading and interacting with the information. In our first newsletter, we challenged our readers to 1) Name SimMan3G, and 2) Provide a backstory that would help bring that name to life. We had several fantastic submissions (thank you to all who submitted!) but ultimately came up with this winner: Name: Sim Shady Backstory: Sim Shady, a famous American rapper, was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced him to stop having live concerts and instead move to virtual platforms such as Zoom and GoToMeeting. As a result of this, in combination with his already isolated life as a celebrity, he started to feel symptoms of depersonalization and derealization. Since then, he started asking himself, Am I the real Sim Shady? He tried to take up hiking as a new workout, but unfortunately, he contracted the very rare Lyme Disease with an even rarer subsequent bilateral facial nerve palsy, leaving him with a surprised look on his face for the rest of life. His state worsened, and he subsequently became catatonic, therefore rendering him completely unable to move his arms or legs. Come encourage Sim Shady by visiting our Sim Center, using him for your simulation cases, and giving him a voice! Once we had the submission, our Sim Coordinator and Sim Specialist had a fun afternoon dressing up SimMan3G to allow him to fully live up to his new name. How do you like @albertwaparicio ’s submission? Post your comments congratulating him on his creativity below! #contest #contestgiveaway #simulationcenter #simulationcenters #simcenter #healthcaresimulation #simulationinhealthcare

Tuesday Talk with a Sim Coordinator. Let’s talk team building ideas. The difficulty with building a chemistry amongst your team during this time is that many of us work remotely. However, if you can gather your team on a group video call together that’s all you need. There are many team building activities and exercises that can be done virtually. One of my favorites is a getting to know you exercise. For example, everybody on the team could get the chance to ask each team member a question about themselves. Such as their hobbies, pets, or favorite sport. Do you have any team building ideas you can share with us? Please leave your comment below. #tuesday #tuesdaytalk #teambuilding #teams #sim #simcoordinator #talk #coordinator #letstalk #virtual #build
