The Kavli Nanoscience Institute 01.06.2021

The KNI has established the KNI Catalyst Awards to recognize and highlight researchers in the KNI community who demonstrate efforts to support and promote diversity, equity and inclusion at Caltech or within the broader scientific community. The KNI Catalyst Award candidates are nominated by their peers or advisors. The award comes with a $1,000 prize to support the honoree's continued efforts. Examples of qualifying topics: equality (racial, gender, sexual identity, socioeco...nomic, etc.); mental/physical health and well being; accessibility/inclusion; social/racial justice in STEM. Examples of qualifying activities: community organizing, outreach, mentorship, allyship, teaching, outreach, creating and implementing DEI initiatives. Successful applicants will be mentored by world-class Caltech professors and engage in cutting-edge research. Those interested in nanoscience can qualify for our SURF-the-WAVE (STW) prize fellowships. In addition to a salary of $6,620 for the ten-week period, WAVE fellows will receive a $2,000 supplement for housing ...and travel to/from Caltech.
