She became homeless November 2019. She said she was in an abusive relationship and "... just walked out. I don’t got no clothes not jacket no nothing; I got holes in the bottom of my shoes, when I walk on the ground I hit every rock I can't even afford to buy a pair of 10 dollar shoes." When asked what she wants people to know about homelessness she replied, "It stinks. It's really bad you know. If you want to bathe like you normally do, you want to be in the house watching T...V, cooking you can't do all that. You can't get a hot meal, you can't get a shower. You gotta try to ask somebody to help you... It's hard." At the end of our conversation I gave her a hug. She stated "that was a real hug". #tbt while taking photos for the Shelter Exhibit photographer I came across Robert who was sitting on a mattress eating crackers. I was not able to get Robert's full story he only told me he was homeless because of drugs. Although Robert said drugs I thought to myself it has to be more to his story. I didn’t want to harass Robert so I just asked if I could take his photo he said yes. After the 1st photograph I asked if he could get a close-up of Robert's hands Robert said yes. #facelessnamesofhomelessness #shelterexhibit #karimsaafirphotography
