As the Sacramento City Council looks at spending more money tomorrow, I hope you'll get involved by supporting funding for independent music venues. Katie Schmidt (aka Katie Knipp) has a few details of how to go about adding your voice.

Always a good time! Hey, especially for any former NY'ers who may be jonesing for the sound of a voice from the boroughs. Great music by a creative songwriter who has been around some of rock n roll's top acts. She's photographed them, been photographed with them, even played with a few.

John Lewis offered a final message in an essay he wrote shortly before his death, and published on the day of his funeral: "Now it is your turn to let freedom ring." https://nyti.ms/2Xe81FZ

Excited to announce that I'll be involved in a new project with the Sacramento Jazz Cooperative. With changes brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, countle...ss artists and arts organizations have been finding ways to reinvent themselves. We'll be helping to keep the music playing, with our first concert filming soon. Here's a little bit about our new venture.

A unique performance by an entertainer with a big orchestra who has already proved he is unique in other ways. This will be a properly distanced arrangement of musicians and guest vocalists, not everyone in their own space Zoomed together. These artists will all be safe and in the same room. (Try to top THAT, Metropolitan Opera!) Proceeds to benefit Black Lives Matter. This is a free show via the Midtown Vanguard Jazz Series Facebook page, but donations are greatly appreciate...d and one way you can do it is through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-peter-petty-pandemic-palooza All band proceeds to benefit Black Lives Matter.

It's always a great time, seeing Lydia Pense and Cold Blood. This is from the last gig they did at the Crest Theatre, opening for Sons of Champlin. They'll be back onstage in Sacramento once the lockdown is lifted and I'm looking forward to working with them again.

Hey, did you like the video Katie Schmidt (aka Katie Knipp) and I collaborated on for the Tiny Desk Contest? Why not own some of her music and let Bandcamp reward her with a little more $ today, while they're waiving their percentage. This is a great album that made it to 2 of the Billboard charts. Your purchases may also help Katie finish her next album a little sooner.

Wow! Just jumped on FB for the first time this morning and Katie Schmidt told me that the Tiny Desk Contest video we filmed has been posted by NPR. A couple of weeks ago, I accompanied Katie aka Katie Knipp to Berkeley for a gig at Cornerstone where she opened for William DuVall (Alice in Chains). In the middle of Katie's set, she debuted a new song and I grabbed some video for the contest.
