Despite the power and flexibility of water. It’s power alone does not make it immune to gravity’s force. Yet gravity makes water more powerful. The energy of flowing river water comes from the force of gravity, which pulls the water downward. The steeper the slope of a river, the faster the river moves and the more energy it has. This is true with inversion. Yes even this pose is an inversion as Inversions are yoga asanas where the heart is higher from the ground than the he...ad. The faster we train ourselves to flow with the cosmic forces which govern this realm and resist the urge to fight against them. The easier inversions become. Of course this has a butterfly effect to all aspects of life. The breath, our thoughts and our actions all have the power to propel us downwards or we can become one with the cosmos and be uplifted by them. The chose is yours and you have the power to change your life in anyway you desire. See more

I have a ritual in which when I first get a new book I turn to a random page and see what jumps out. The Book Cosmic Consciousness came onto my radar when I learned it was an inspiration to Steve Jobs. The first page in which I turn to had the quote This tree which we call life and it’s upper part human life and human mind, has simply grown as grows any other tree, and besides it’s main stem, it has, as in the case of other trees, thrown off many branches. It will be well... to consider some of these. It will be seen that some of them are given off from the lower part of the trunk, as, for instance, contractility, From which great limb, and as part of it, springs all muscular action from the simple movement of the worm that the marvelous co-ordinated motions made, in the exercise of their art. Another of these large lower limbs is the instinct of self-preservation and (twin with it) The instinct of the continuance of the species its preservation. Higher up the special senses shoot out from the main trunk and as they grow and divide and again divide they become large and vitally important branches of the great tree. From all these main offshoots spring smaller arms and from these more delicate twigs. See more

Don’t be afraid to take risks. At the same time remember to be calculated. If the risk is worth it do your best to succeed. If you accomplish said task then you can lead! If in the moment you fail then that puts you into position to guide. Keep your composure, don’t give up and with accumulated dedication you will accomplish your wildest dreams.

One day the Buddha held up a flower in front of an audience of 1,250 monks and nuns. He did not say anything for quite a long time. The audience was perfectly silent. Everyone seemed to be thinking hard, trying to see the meaning behind the Buddha’s gesture. Then, suddenly, the Buddha smiled. He smiled because someone in the audience smiled at him and at the flower. The name of that monk was Mahakashyapa. He was the only person who smiled, and the Buddha smiled back and said, I have a treasure of insight, and I have transmitted it to Mahakashyapa. That story has been discussed by many generations of Zen students, and people continue to look for its meaning. To me the meaning is quite simple. When someone holds up a flower and shows it to you, they want you to see it. If you keep thinking, you just might miss the flower.

Water is fluid, soft and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong. Lau Tzu

Spent last week chillaxin in the forest. Spending time in nature is a great way to recharge. We were of course affected by the forced power outage in the golden state. Where I was, there wasn’t even enough wind the fly a kite. But I digress. Being in the mountains itself is a great way to recharge so with the forced electric detox I am feeling even more grounded and connected to the earth. To top it off I only had reception about a 5th of the time. Anyways I am back with my normal public classes and I even have a new one to announce. Every Friday come yoga and meditate with me at Sycamore hot springs from 5-630pm!
