Relatable? These inner voices can get along, it just takes a little self compassion and compromise. #selfcare #bunkerlife #socialdistance #tomotivateornottomotivate #healthysnacks #sweatpantsaremultipurpose

I recognize not everybody has open time right now, but for those who do, this poem by Emma Zeck offers an interesting thought experiment re: being in the emptiness and potential of an un-booked day. I would add, this is an opportunity to also remember how we connect and care for one another, too, during challenging times that bring hardship to loved ones and neighbors, if not ourselves. I am appreciating the technological tools people are using to connect for this purpose, myself included. #mentalhealth #opportunityincrisis #virusanxiety #anxiety

Let’s hope it won’t always take courage for people to be themselves. But for now, thank you @indyamoore for leading the way. #Repost @indyamoore with @get_repost Thank you Aree, for sharing your keepsake earings so I could bring my sister's with me tonight. HBO’s Euphoria is about a group of teenagers in Anytown, USA navigating their way through romantic and platonic relationships amidst trauma, drugs, sex and the internet. The show reflects astonishingly accurate portrayals of drug addiction, mental illness, healthy and unhealthy sexual interactions, issues of consent, and domestic violence, just to list a few. ***Disclaimer: I will do my best do avoid spoilers and plot points and only note descriptions of the above*** ... The lead character Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, suffers from a myriad of mental conditions. Rue shares the following as she falls deeper into a depressive episode: The other thing about depression is it kind of collapses time. Suddenly you find your whole days blending together to create one endless and suffocating loop. So you find yourself trying to remember the things that made you happy. But slowly your brain begins to erase every memory that ever brought you joy. And eventually, all you can think about it is how life has always been this way. And will only continue to be this way. Rue’s words poetically capture the nuances of depression; she is caught up in what her feelings are telling her versus what her brain knows to be correct. She is aware that she is experiencing depression, but does not feel that she is able to battle against it during an episode. This is true of many sufferers of depression and it is a testament to the series and the actor in how they articulated it so well. #depression #mania #bipolar #selfhelp #rapidcycling #euphoria #drugaddiction See more

It can seem easier to keep our emotions at bay, to put them on the shelf for another day, or to plan to never look at them at all. While this can work for some time as a coping mechanism, ultimately it may do more harm than good. At times, this 90s kid has found that tapping into my inner teen is a great release for angst and a cloudy mind. Scream a little, maybe sing along - nothing beats 90s genre music! #psychotherapy #therapy #emotionalrelease #coping #innerangst #mentalhealth #musicastherapy #copingskills #primalscream

I cannot say enough that foggy brain, anxiety, and fatigue/depression are alleviated by exposure to a body of water. Healing comes in many forms - let’s not ignore this one. Thank you Blue Mind by Dr. Wallace J. Nichols for getting the word out! All I really want to say is this: . Get in the water.... . Walk along the water. Move across its surface. Get under it. Sit in it. Leap into it. Listen to it. Touch the water. Float on it. Close your eyes and drink a big glass. . Fall more deeply in love with water in all its shapes, colors, and forms. Let it heal you and make you a better, stronger version of yourself. You need water. And water needs you now. . I wish you water. . ~ Dr Wallace J. Nichols #bluemind See more
