URGENT ACTION NEEDED (Due 7/15 at midnight): Public Comment your OPPOSITION to the new proposed Asylum Rules and Regulations COMMENT LINK: https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=EOIR-2020-0003-0001 (click the "Comment Now" button in the top right corner to comment) The administration has proposed a new rule that will fundamentally change our asylum system and restrict asylum access even further. If you've been following asylum updates under this president, you know that throu...gh a variety of policies, rule changes, and case law it has become nearly impossible to win asylum here in the U.S. This new proposal basically incorporates all of the previous ones into one, and if it goes into effect, it will put the lives of hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers at risk. For more information about the changes, read this article here: https://immigrationforum.org//the-trump-administrations-p/ The last day to publicly comment in opposition to the proposed rule is 7/15 at midnight, so please comment ASAP!! The more comments we submit, the longer these rules will take to go into effect.

TOMORROW is the LAST DAY to submit public comments on the USCIS proposed fee waiver changes. Like Public Charge, this proposed change targets working-class immigrant families who cannot afford immigration fees. Stand with us and our clients by SUBMITTING a public comment TODAY!! Submit your comments here: https://www.federalregister.gov//agency-information-collec For more information about the proposed rule change and how to submit your comment, please check out ILRC's pub...lic comment template below. Even though it is written for organizations, you can borrow some of the language to support your individual comment: https://www.ilrc.org/fee-waiver-public-comment-template

In addition to Public Charge, this administration has proposed another policy that directly affects immigrants applying for legal status here in the US. Currently, the U.S. government will waive some immigration application fees -- such as the application for citizenship and some applications for a green card -- if the applicant receives a means-tested benefit like Medi-Cal or food stamps. Immigration application fees are steep: $725 for citizenship and $1,225 for a green car...d. Now the Trump Administration wants to eliminate receipt of means-tested benefits as a basis for qualifying for a fee waiver. This is yet another blatant attack on hard-working immigrants in our communities. If immigrants can’t naturalize to become U.S. citizens, they can’t vote. If they can’t vote, they can’t formally participate and engage in our country’s political process. Do your part and make your voice heard by submitting a public comment opposing the proposed rule change here! https://www.federalregister.gov//agency-information-collec
