Dear Family, Friends and Supporters, I have been presented with an opportunity that will not only change my life, but the lives of people across the world. An authentic conversation with a friend about compassion and purpose has now led me to one of my greatest honors to date. I am humbled to announce I have been given the opportunity to join Sandra Shebani and her team to help raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the largest voluntary health organization in... the world dedicated to fighting blood cancer, since 1949. From April 8th through June 19th, along with my team Linda’s Light, I will embark on a 10-week fundraising competition to raise as many funds as possible to give back to the mission of the LLS. This year I am dedicated to creating something bigger than myself. My father beat cancer when I was in middle school. Watching him go through treatments, while still working and supporting his family, is something that I will never forget. Fast forward to 2020. After being cancer free for years, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma of the Central Nervous System on Christmas Day last year. After his diagnosis, we found out he also has thyroid cancer. His response to this was inspiring and taught me so many valuable lessons. Instead of feeling down, he was ready to fight the cancer and return to living a normal life. Every day that he goes through chemo is one step closer to recovering. He has taught me that you cannot control what happens to you, but you can control how you react. Instead of feeling down, I decided to join Sandra, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to help find a cure for Cancer! Today is kickoff day! I set a personal goal of raising $1,000 on the first day.
