Champion Packaging won a Gold Addy.

This never happens. My longtime pal Eric Springer, CCO at Innocean, called and asked if I'd craft a design language to help build out their big brilliant campaign for rebranding Champion Auto Parts in ten days. Eric and his team completely reinvented the brand persona, so a new look was imperative. But a credible new look for a one hundred year old company in ten days? My first thought was that we couldn't possibly nail that, but that we had to take one big swing at it. Tu...rns out we connected and the client totally loved it. We had help bringing it to life. Springer and Mike Bryce were involved from day one with their big brains and savvy eyes. Eric Rindal, Kevin Roberson and Vanessa Lin brought the design power needed to extend the look to 60+ final packs. Tricia Ting, Parker Collins, Christy Butler and others from Innocean added their big time agency experience and tenacity. Fine artist Coop, who himself is steeped in Hot Rod culture, accepted our plea to hand draw every illustration in his distinctive style. Marius Gedgaudas, design god, is now the steward of the system. None of it would've happened without the relentless politeness of Chris Halas who locked arms with us to preserve the integrity of the design at every step. You're all Champions. I've never even met the clients at Champion, but would love to hug them.
