Most families with special-needs children struggle with who they should name as successor trustee of a Special Needs Trust once they are gone. Often, they default to siblings of the special needs individual. But that person may not have the desire or skills needed to be a Trustee, among other potential issues. A solution is to name a Trust Protector (which could be a sibline) to monitor the trustee and look out for the beneficiary's interests. I am fortunate enough to be on a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion task force in my Provisors group, run by Stafford Jacobs and Lanie Denslow. On Friday they introduced to me a YouTube series called "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man", this episode featuring Chip and Joanna Gaines and their family. I think this is an excellent series featuring honest but respectful conversations, enabling us to hear perspectives of people that have much different experiences from one another, resulting in, I hope, better understanding and progress for equality. https://bit.ly/2H4FQEL
