Ardha Uttanasana "The Forgotten Asana" I call this #Yoga pose "The Forgotten Asana" because no one ever talks about it, and it's typically just a little half second jerk upwards from forward fold and back down again, lost in the rush of the power vinyasa. This is unfortunate because it is an important position and movement which has a lot of potential to do good for your body, and likewise to harm it if done improperly. Here's a breakdown of some simple do's and don't d...o's for Ardha Uttanasana which will help you fall in Love with this neglected #asana. Don't round your upper back. Don't crank your head back compressing the cervical spine. Don't lock your knees out. Don't dump your tailbone down. Don't relax your abdominals. Do extend your thoracic spine, almost like doing a low cobra pose. Do tuck your chin while pulling your head back gently. Do slightly bend your knees. Do feel your tailbone trying to curl up slightly. Do draw in with medium strength at the lower abdominals. There's always more to learn in every pose, but these tips will get you started in the right direction. And don't forget, a pose is only as good as the breath flowing through it so remember to breathe!
