HRC Fertility in Pasadena has recently updated our laboratory specifically to grow embryos 5 days to blastocyst. Virtually, all cases are now day 5 transfer. Data from genetic testing of embryos has supported viable normal embryos are able to reach the blastocyst stage and most genetically abnormal embryos will stop growing. This has provided the feedback we have been seeking to validate day 5 transfers. Pregnancy rates have been much higher as a result of improved embryo selection.

I will be recruiting patients for a prospective randomized trial for day 3 versus day 5 embryo biopsy for PGS with IVF. Anyone interested in IVF may be eligible for the study. There may be an opportunity for free medication and other concessions to enroll in the study.
