Once upon a time, not so long ago, I embarked on a concert tour like no other; The Great Song Cycle, Down Under - a zero-emissions, pedal powered concert tour. With a bicycle loaded (30kgs-ish) with musical instruments, bike tools, snacks, sunblock, concert clothes, cycling clothes, and even merchandise, I pedaled 2500kms down the pacific coast of Australia, from Byron Bay to Hobart in Tasmania. I performed a combined total of 38 concerts/book readings/radio interviews, and ...connected every invitation by cycling there. I’d average about 50-80miles a day, and yes there were injuries, tears, and moments I thought I could not continue along the path. But, digging deep I kept turning the pedals. I met a myriad of kind hearted people who took me in to feed me, host house concerts for me, and keep me on track. I am so grateful to @uwapublishing for publishing my memoir and @literaryagent1 for being an amazing agent, publicist, and also moral support for the tour. I am releasing the documentary of this journey on JUNE 1st. The first time I acknowledged the Californian poppy was on a ‘welcome to California’ road sign, as I cycled from Oregon into CA, on my west coast bike tour down the pch, back in 2016. Spring has sprung here, the hills are green and powdered with this delicate yet powerful beauty, the wild flower. Orange, purple, pink, white, blue, and more. Wild flowers are a great reminder to tread lightly, and to keep your eyes open for there is beauty popping up everywhere. #californianpoppy #california

Learning to surf has been on my bucket list for a long time. I’m now maybe, perhaps, slightly able to say I CAN SURF! ... for moments at a time, that is, accompanied by whoops and fist pumps in the air (I give to myself). It’s pure joy!
