JEET KUNE DO The Art of Jeet Kune Do is simply to simplify. Jeet Kune Do avoids the superficial, penetrates the complex, goes to the heart of the problem and pinpoints the key factors.... Jeet Kune Do does not beat around the bush. It does not take winding detours. It follows a straight line to the objective. Simplicity is the shortest distance between two points. Jeet Kune Do favors formlessness so that it can assume all forms, and since Jeet Kune Do has no style, it can fit in with all styles. As a result, Jeet Kune Do utilizes ALL ways and is bound by NONE, and likewise uses any techniques or means which serves its end. ~ Bruce Lee

'Too many amateur instructors have forgotten entirely that the purpose of boxing lessons is to teach a fellow to defend himself with his fists, not to point him... toward amateur or professional competition with boxing gloves. To a menacing extent, the purpose of fistic instruction has been bypassed by amateur tutors, who try to benefit themselves financially, indirectly or directly, by producing punchless performers, who can win amateur or professional bouts on points.' - Jack Dempsey

Toe To Toe Boxing War - Roberto Duran vs Vinny Pazienza I PS/ Vinny Pazienza entered the ring tonight with white stripes painted on his face. In between, the ...31-year-old pounded out a unanimous 12-round decision over the 43-year-old Roberto Duran at the M-G-M Grand. Judge Chuck Giampa scored the middleweight bout 117-113 and Dave Moretti and Jerry Roth had it 117-112, although they all raised eyebrows by scoring the fifth round even (10-10) despite a clean knockdown by Duran. Pazienza got up immediately and took a mandatory 8-count. Later in the round, the fighters' heads collided and Pazienza was cut above the right eye. Blood streamed from the cut for the rest of the fight, but didn't seem to bother him. Pazienza dominated the second half of the fight as Duran tired, but admitted: "I thought I would beat him easier. I was a little off." Duran maintained that he was the rightful victor. "If this kid's so tough, look at his face and look at me," he said. "I didn't lose the fight." Duran, 93-10 with 65 knockouts, isn't ready to give up yet. Asked if he would consider retiring, he said: "No. I will fight."
