2021 San Diego Aikido Bridge Seminar- 15th Anniversary! January 16, online! We want to introduce one of our instructors- Wilko Vriesman Shihan, 6th Dan Amsterdam, Netherlands... Chief Instructor, Vriesman Dojo IAF General Secretary Vriesman Shihan started Aikido in 1982 with Kanetsuka Sensei and Fujita Shihan. He spent time as kenshusei in Hombu Dojo under the Nidai Doshu and the current Doshu. Upon his return to Europe, he became a student of Tissier Shihan. Sensei runs the Vriesman Dojo in Amsterdam and is Technical Director of the Dutch Aikikai, as well as the current General Secretary of the IAF. Jiai Aikido is doing our part. Today's 11am class is still online in accordance with the Stay at Home orders. In San Diego, strip bars are legally able to open.... but yet martial art schools cannot train inside. On my way to the dojo, I pass numerous gyms open, packed with people, making money etc. We will keep on doing our part, but it would help if everyone did. Meanwhile those of us business owners who care about others' health...are suffering the most and our hosp...itals are maxed out. Thank you to our students for all your support!

Due to the mandatory 'stay at home orders, all classes need to go online again of course. The upside...everyone can join in. Please bring something like this in the picture on hand if you can. Reminder: Tom Sensei's & Cat Sensei's 4pm classes on Tuesday/Thursday, and Cat Sensei's Saturday 11am class, need NO RSVP. Cat Sensei's Wednesday 9am & 1pm classes, Friday 9am and 10am classes, and Sunday 9am & 10am classes DO need RSVP by 5pm the night before please. ... Please keep in mind other ways to support the dojo and community besides our regular training & dues etc. There is a lot of merch like shirts, weapons, uniforms, etc. we have for sale, and both Tomoleoni Sensei & Cat Sensei offer private lessons. Thank you everyone for sticking together, and get back on the mat soon if you haven't been around. We miss you!

11am Aikido class soon with Cat Sensei. We are going over 2 test techniques, and breath work for relaxation in effecient movement. Until we can train again together in the dojo, and provided no 'stay at home order'.... students are welcome to Cat Sensei's home in Julian for outdoor, social distant training 4 days a week, masks when contact training, etc. Lets keep up the work!

If you haven't tried online classes yet, I urge you to be open minded and continue your training consistently. It's not always about 'hitting the mat'. We have a lot of aikido study, drills, and practice to do on our own that we cover with our online classes. They apply towards rank requirements as well. ... A great event happening tomorrow- for Aikido beginners and veterans alike, everyone is welcome! Starts at 10 am Pacific Time. This event will feature 10 people who trained at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo (World Headquarters) for a significant length of time, each 10 years or more. Listen while they share experiences, impressions, not on how techniques was/is done, but on how life was and training at Hombu was. The time covered will be from mid-1970's to present day. Our history is going away, little by little as time goes on. We need to keep our history, and share it with the newer generations.
