Happy Friday Lovelies Thought I’d leave you with something to ponder on over the weekend... Since we re-opened, I have heard this statement from a couple of patients requesting consultations for treatments: You’re just too honest. ... My question to you is: Is there such thing as a medical provider being too honest? Some perspective to the statement. These patients were requesting treatments or procedures that, either I believed they did not need OR, could potentially make them look less natural and over done. As a medical provider (NP) who practices in cosmetic medicine (a cash business- no insurance), it can be a slippery slope for some. While I believe in listening to each and every one of my patients’ personal cosmetic concerns, I also feel compelled as a medical provider who, took an oath to do no harm, to educate and explain the why behind suggesting they hold off on the requested procedure(s). In my professional opinion and 15 years in this industry as a plastic surgery OR Nurse, National Aesthetic Trainer/Mentor and Injector, I feel as though the climate of social media and Zoom calls has tempted many to be hypercritical of the face they stare at daily for hours. (No thanks to Covid ). Beautiful faces seeking perfection and in return, often taking unnecessary health risks and throwing away money only to go overboard.
