SUSAN G. KOMEN & JERSEY MIKE’S SUBS TEAM UP FOR MIKE’S WAY TO A CURE DAY Takes Place Wednesday Oct. 5 as Part of National Six-Month Campaign... THOUSAND OAKS, NEWBURY PARK, WESTLAKE, CA 9/20/11 Susan G. Komen is joining forces with Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants throughout the area on October 5, 2011 for Mike’s Way To A Cure Day. That day local Jersey Mike’s locations will contribute 25% of their proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It is part of a six-month nationwide campaign called Mike’s Way to a Cure which began in May in support of Susan G. Komen’s mission to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research. The campaign will conclude at the end of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The national Mike’s Way to a Cure campaign began in May with the introduction of a specially branded plastic cup that is available as part of a Pink Ribbon Combo or as an individual fountain drink sale. Seventy cents (70) of each cup sale goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Mike’s Way to a Cure T-shirts are available at all stores with 100% of sales ($8 each) donated to Komen. To help build awareness, Jersey Mike’s also created special Susan G. Komen for the Cure sub wrapping paper and To Go bags. In addition, donations will continue to be accepted at all area Jersey Mike’s stores for the duration of the campaign. Long before cause-related marketing became popular, reaching out to the community was a key component of Jersey Mike’s mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. So many people are affected by breast cancer either themselves or they have a sister, a mother, a daughter or friend who has been diagnosed, said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. At Jersey Mike’s, we are committed to educating our customers about this important cause and to finding the cures.
