Wow. This reminds me of the days when pictures were printed and companies would call the police if they thought a photo was inappropriate. But still...being paid informants? Here's a tip: take your computers to knowledgeable, independent computer repair people. Man, Orange County has been in a lot of trouble over the past year.... http://www.ocweekly.com//best-buy-geek-squad-informant-use

I find this article about missing camera footage very interesting since I have had cases where the footage, which also could have helped or hurt my client's case, was "missing." It always bothered me. Incident happened in January 2015. http://www.sfgate.com//Oakland-police-camera-gaffe-25-perc

I represented a client charged with felony second degree commercial burglary. At his preliminary hearing, the judge reduced it to a misdemeanor. After filing a motion to dismiss, still believing evidence was lacking, I received this in the mail today. So happy for my client!

Beware of car thieves! Even though Honda frequently leads the list of most stolen cars (Honda owners should seriously consider using "The Club"), thieves are now finding ways to access key fobs for all types of cars and getting in. While nobody wants a broken window, it's best to just keep nothing at all in your car. Ever. http://www.nytimes.com//keeping-your-car-safe-from-electro

I handle Social Security Disability claims and can represent claimants anywhere in the United States. It is one area of law that you do not have to be admitted to the state bar to handle. If you know anyone who needs help with a Social Security claim, feel free to have them contact me for a free consultation.

This was one of my rarest, busiest weeks ever. I defended a civil deposition, appeared in probate court, criminal court, civil court for a restraining order and conducted a Social Security Disability hearing in a federal office. The week ended with an opposing party passing out in court and having to leave the building on a gurney. Sometimes there are not enough days in the week to get everything done, but the fun never stops.

Almost two years ago exactly, a young man horribly injured in a motorcycle accident came to my office for help with his Social Security Disability appeal. After two hearings, multiple exams and a lot of stress, I was so proud to get him the benefits he deserved today. I have to admit I got a little verklempt at the end of the hearing. He is a great young man whose life was so severely impacted in so many ways from this accident. Now he can get back on his own feet and move forward in a positive way.

If you need one story to get you to put that cellphone down, this one is heartbreaking. As a mom, bicyclist and driver, I can't imagine this situation. If putting your cellphones down is hard for you, then lock it in the trunk, or leave it in the back seat, out of reach. Keep your eyes on the road. http://www.mprnews.org/story/2015/06/01/distracted-driving

Beginning tomorrow, the City of Alameda, in conjunction with other police departments, will begin using pedestrian decoys to cite drivers. Beware, and if you get a ticket, contact my office! Please drive safely, walk safely, and remember for every mph you are driving, it requires 1.5' of stopping distance. Thus, if you are driving 20 mph, you need 30' to completely and safely stop your vehicle.

Today I learned once you've used the post-it jury selection method, you can never go back. Nope. Sorry. Jury is seated, stack of post its nearby.

Ever wonder why traffic tickets have become so expensive? This article explains where all those fees go. It doesn't include the time to deal with your ticket, the cost of your insurance increasing or the different ways to handle a ticket. If you know someone with a traffic ticket, feel free to have them contact my office. http://www.sacbee.com//local/transpor/article18635310.html

I have waited 7 years and 11 months for this but finally, tomorrow, I begin picking a jury for my client! Final charges against him will be determined this afternoon. Last jury trial I needed accommodations for my pregnancy; this year I need accommodations for parent-teacher conferences. Grateful for an understanding and accommodating judge.

Today I concluded my first felony representation. In a bizarre twist of irony, the client -- charged with Vehicle Code Section 10851(a), the unlawful taking or driving of a vehicle. The charges were reduced to a misdemeanor . Ironically, the incident occurred literally around the corner from where our good friends just bought a house. Given how 6-7 officers with guns drawn plus a K9 unit reacted to a stolen vehicle with very cooperative occupants, I do wish someone had made a video.

Today a client thanked me after court by giving me a hug and kissing me on the head. I was grateful I had washed my hair after boot camp this morning.

Today there was an exceptionally long line to get into the courthouse (more than an hour long). A man stopped me and asked me about a traffic ticket. I was able to advise him that he was in the wrong county, still had about 3 weeks to pay the fine and could do it by mail. Good deed to start off the week with.

Here is how you can offend one of the best judges in Alameda County (besides showing up for a mediation compliance hearing when you haven't yet mediated the case) ME: Your honor, I'm sorry we haven't mediated the case yet. I take partial responsibility since I took a one month vacation this summer to travel overseas. Oh, and then there's the other problem of opposing counsel unexpectedly passing. Judge: You're a LAWYER and you took a one month VACATION? When I was a lawyer I never took more than a week! Me: Well, that's what all my old bosses used to tell me, too. So that's why I went to work for myself.

Yesterday we were prepared to go to trial on behalf of a client charged with PC 415 (disturbing the peace) as a result of a fight at a local hospital. We are pleased with the outcome of the case which was a full dismissal by the District Attorney's office. Justice for our client was achieved.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of Kristina Velarde, defense counsel at Cesari, Werner & Moriarty who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We were working on a personal injury case together and I found her to be professional, courteous and a pleasure to work with. I suspect she was close to my age so it makes it even harder to absorb.

Happy Thursday to all! Started the day off getting a client's red light ticket dismissed in San Mateo County. Now happy that #USMNT is moving on to the Round of 16!
