Down at the Anaheim Dental Convention getting some continuing education credit and checking out the latest and greatest in the dental world. Extra fun taking my daughter along with me!

Day 3 at Rosa de Amor. It is a home for children who are orphans or have been abused and removed from their homes. We were able to treat between 50-60 patients today. Had a blast!! Beautiful place with equally beautiful people. Feeling blessed.

Because dental decay can set within 24 hours, it’s more than worth it to get up and brush your teeth. Equally important is making sure your child brushes his or her teeth at least twice a day.

A 2006 scientific paper in Pediatric Dentistry revealed that children who waited past their first birthday and did not see a dentist until age two or three "were more likely to have subsequent preventive, restorative and emergency visits."

One of the most common issues for periodontists is gum recession. As the recession continues, gaps are exposed between the gum line and teeth where plaque can collect and eventually affect the health of the teeth in that area.

Playing games can help encourage your child to have better oral hygiene. Teach children to brush long enough by having them choose a favorite song each morning to listen to while brushing, and have them brush until the song is over.
