I think I’m quite ready for another adventure. -Bilbo (LOTR) I am beyond excited to share that today was the opening of @studio.one.fresno owned by @catbarcohair! I have watched Cat encourage those around her for years. She shares her knowledge, and pushes me to be a better stylist, and to never settle, but to always keep growing.... She is the one who put me on the path that I am now on in my career. So, when she told me that she was opening up her own salon, I knew I had to be a part of it. To be a part of a group of like minded women who have a passion for making women feel beautiful and confident. Today, which just so happens to be International Women’s Day , is the first start to this amazing next chapter in my life! I can not wait to share more adventures with you all!

What is your North Star? If you look up at the stars, the North Star is the anchor of the northern sky. All the stars in the sky move around it, while it stays true. Whenever sailors got lost, they could always find their way home by looking for the North Star.... I’m not going lie. So far, this year kicked my butt. But surrounding myself with people who motivate me to focus on MY true north, has been my saving grace. Focusing on what drives me as a woman, a wife, and a small business is, honestly, what pushed me through the waves of 2020 and now 2021. Surround yourself with people who will point you back to your North Star. Who will lift you up, inspire you, pray for you when things get hard, and love you through it all. DON’T GET FOOLED!! Five questions you need to ask before you invest in hair extensions. 1Does the method use any type of adhesive on your natural hair? Ouch!... -Adhesives can pull on your natural hair and end up doing more damage by leaving you with breakage. 2How much education is given to stylists using this extension method? -Hair extensions is not a regulated service in CA. Meaning that any stylist can offer them with very little to non training. If done incorrectly, extensions can damage your hair and create stress on your scalp. When done correctly, extensions can IMPROVE your hair quality. 3Does the extension method match my lifestyle? -Some method don’t have the flexibility in styles that other methods have. A luxury method is designed to accommodate any lifestyle! So, it will blend seamlessly, even in a high pony! 4Is the extension hair real and good quality? -Extensions are not something that you want at a bargain. They will be attached to your head for months!! To make things cheaper the hair is often bad quality, put together poorly, or synthetic. This leaves you with tangled hair, broken or dry hair after only a few washes! Sometimes, yak hair is even used as a filler. Yes, animal hair! REAL HUMAN HAIR is costly but you’re going to get a much better end result and the hair is healthy. In the long run, it ends up saving you money. 5Is the hair ethically sourced? -Most people don’t even think about this but there is a black market for everything. Including hair. It is my job and my privilege to make sure that I know where the hair is coming from that is going on your head. Is it life-changing to have the hair you have always wanted and extensions can be a dream come true! But, not all methods are created equal. Have you ever noticed your hair is way more brittle in the front? Those baby hair are coming in strong and you have no idea what to do about them! They never grow, or they only grow to a certain length.... Then, they just break off. The hair around your hairline is the most fragile. It also gets the most action. It is the hair that frames our face so, of course, we want it to look good! We run that hot tool over those pieces a few more times, we saturate it with products to get it exactly how we want, and, by the end of the day, those hairs get messed with about 50% more than the rest. Those hairs just can’t live up to what we put them through! Irma loves full hair around her face! We strategically place her extensions to create fullness and fill in what those baby hairs can not. Small changes have the biggest impact. Extensions aren’t always just for the down to my waist look. Sometimes, we just need a little help filling things in.

Lessons from Lucy. One morning, my sister and I were talking at the dining room table when all of a sudden, my niece, who was 3 at the time, runs through the door to tell us an exciting story of what happened outside! My sister immediately notices Lucy’s eye is red. ... When she asked what had happened, Lucy was so into the story she was telling, she didn’t hear the question. She was so full of life and joy as she preceded to tell us of her adventures in the back yard. Her little body was bursting with excitement the entire time. When she finished her story, she looked at her mom and simply said, I scratched my eye. as she shrugged. Instead of dwelling on it, she smiled her big, joyful smile and said, That’s okay, I’m still happy! Then, ran off for more adventures outside. I think about this story a lot, especially in the last year. I love the simple, but oh so valuable, lessons I learn from my nieces and nephews. To choose happiness and joy instead of dwelling on the things that feel uncomfortable or went wrong. In life we mess up, we get hurt, we get thrown of course by the momentary things, instead of looking at the big picture.
