If you make it a priority, then it will happen. It's not only your teacher's job to motivate you to do yoga. The spark also has to come from within. And sometimes if you don't feel the inspiration from within, it's part of the practice to just show up on your yoga mat anyway.

The pattern of incremental shapeshifting is imprinted in our minds when we practice yoga postures or asanas. Jerry Sternin said, It is easier to act ourselves into a new way of thinking rather than think ourselves into a new way of acting. And without adopting new ways of thinking, we get stuck. We apply this principle when we practice asana, breathing, bending and moving ourselves into a new way of thinking. Therefore, yoga practice invites us to make the conscious choice to use change as our ally, learning to see the same thing from a new perspective.

Got spaciousness? Space allows us to settle and arrive. // By doing less and being more we can dwell in our true nature of self. // As distractions fall away, we can remember who we are, what we want in our lives and how we can contribute to the world.

"Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society." - John Lewis // Just as the ocean never stops making waves, we must follow John Lewis’ instructions on choosing freedom for all with our actions everyday. Let’s keep making waves following the path he carved out and hold his example in our hearts.

It is possible to be fierce and be calm at the same time. Yoga teaches the pose of the peaceful warrior: awake and compassionate. We can be steady in our effort to work for change. And we can be full of ease in how we approach moments of intensity and challenges. We all have the capacity to choose where we place our attention. What are you choosing? Set an intention. Take one action that exemplifies your intention. Repeat daily.

A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. One experiences themselves, their thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of their consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Albert Einstein
