Each year our athletes take time to fill out a leaf stating something for which they are thankful. This year, we kept up the tradition using a bulletin board in our outdoor gym. And this year, that so many were grateful for JAG was especially meaningful. We are so grateful to all of you. To those who follow us from afar and send their well wishes, we thank you. To our families who trust their kids to us and support us through thick and thin, we thank you. To our athletes who make it all worth fighting for, we thank you. Sound on to hear girls supporting girls! Yes, gymnastics teaches courage (new skill for @emi.sakamoto2021) and resilience (she’s learning incredibly difficult this skill outside) and it also teaches girls to support other girls. May this lead to women who support other women. #jagpride

In the challenges, look for the beauty. Last night one of our staff members caught this gorgeous leap at sunset. We have been outside for two months now. And it is hard for everyone. The kids miss having full hours and access to all equipment. The coaches miss just coaching, as they have also added tarp layer and leaf blower to their resumes. But we know we are doing the right thing. We are so proud of our staff and athletes. #jagpride

Gymnastics facilities should not be classified the same as fitness center gyms! The benefits of athletes being able to train are immeasurable to their mental health. With the skyrocketing cases of depression and anxiety in young people, we should be doing everything possible to allow the return of sports, especially those where... kids invest so much time into their training. Jordan has a rare disease called MCAS, and while it had been managed for a while (allowing her to do things she loves, including gymnastics!) this year it has taken a rough turn. Safely outdoors, socially distant and wearing our masksour JAG gymnasts continue to learn and have fun while all gymnastics clubs in Los Angeles County are restricted to outdoor only training. It hasn’t been easy making this pivot, but it’s been totally worth it to continue to work with this dedicated staff and awesome athletes!

As we move into the school year, we wanted to keep you updated on the happenings around JAG! We know things are a little different this fall, and we working hard to adapt to provide a terrific experience for our families! Fall classes. We keep adding new times and sections as we expand our offering for the whole family! Our Joeys classes (caregiver and child, walking to 3) are back in action, including two new sections on Saturdays and we are expanding our Saturday and Sun...day classes into the afternoons, plus we adding to our list of Flips classes. A class for your Quarenteam. We also are scheduling POD classes for those who wish to arrange an ongoing class for similarly aged friends or family members. A POD class is based on JAG’s current programming (i.e. Girls Gym POD, Ninja POD) and requires a minimum of 4 to 6 kids in a POD (depending on ages of kids). Extended Summer Camp. We know most of you are back at school but for those who are still out, our summer camp has been extended through the end of September! Labor Day. JAG will be CLOSED for team and classes on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. We will be OPEN for a special day camp which will include a visit from the puppies! Space is limited! NEW PROGRAM: Camp Afternoon’s at JAG GYM. Our afternoon camp meets Monday through Friday 1:30-3:30pm for ages 5 and up. Get off the screen and into our outdoor gym for some exercise and socialization. Just like our regular camp, you can schedule by the day. So bring some friends! Team placements. I am so proud of the coaches, administrators and athletes who are handling our outdoor pivot with grace, tenacity and perseverance. No gym? No problem. Okay. A little problem. But nothing the fabulous people at JAG can’t solve. With COVID, County ordinances are constantly changing. Today we were informed we needed to move gymnastics outdoors. Within 90 minutes we set up over 5,000 square feet of gymnastics equipment and had a company out to completely fence off the parking lot. Early tomorrow the shade protectors will be installed providing sun protection. Our fabulous coaches created a rotation sch...edule and lesson plans quickly and efficiently and the kids had a blast! Our side gym space will be rolled out tomorrow. We are committed to doing good things for kids!
