I thought this was interesting: Our students work so hard to perform within the brick and mortar classroom. Classroom accommodations are absolutely essential to their success! Clues to Dyslexia! Today, we'll be discussing grades 7+!... The clues are... Slow reading, loses the meaning Writing and spelling problems persist Mispronunciation of long, unfamiliar or complicated words Struggles to finish tests on time Extreme difficulty learning a foreign language Low self-esteem that may not be immediately visible Can cope when given extra time, study strategies, and structured language teaching Information from Overcoming Dyslexia by Sally Shaywitz, M.D.
This is a great article, not just for parents, but for teachers and the students themselves. It is key for our students to understand their struggle. To empower them to be their own advocate. To remind them that dyslexia is a small island of struggle amidst a sea of strengths!!
This is me and my two GREAT nieces. They live in Texas and I’m in California. I was given the sweetest opportunity to asses the oldest today. October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. I knew this day would come. Dyslexia is hereditary, so we were able to keep an eye out for the signs and symptoms. Trust your gut moms and dads. Look for the signs and pursue early intervention. If you have any questions please reach out. Also, check out~ www.brightsolutions.us #dyslexiaawarenessmonth
I am so incredibly proud of all my students. They are brave, they are smart and they are changing their future. They are the one! It is such a privilege to be part of their journey
This is a beautiful book intended to encourage childrenn with Dyslexia. Andra is a beautiful author, teacher, mentor, friend, mother and wife. She has been a gift to me and my son Jacob. I highly recommend this sweet story "Magnificent Meg".
If you are looking for some support at home, this is a good resource.

If you are considering homeschooling this next year, I highly reccomend this article. Go ahead a leave a comment if you have found any tools or have any suggestions for other parents to use.
When I read this, I have an image of someone trustworthy, kind and wiser speaking this to me. I’m challenged to be this for for my students. #hopealways
This just made me smile . Have a great day!
Keep the faith. Keep persevering. These are difficult times, but we’ve got this. There is nothing better than watching our students soar.
Good Morning. As I was looking over this graphic, I couldn’t help but think, yes, the parents need to understand, but it’s also so very important for our students to understand for themselves. The truth will set them free. Allow them to Live Out Loud. To own their strengths and their weaknesses. To know that just because they struggle, does not make them less than. Encourage your students today!!!
