2020 - What an incredible year!!! @itsabidough has existed for only 4 brief months - Est. 8/01/2020 - and these 4 amazing months alone, have given me opportunities for growth, perseverance and maturity. - Growth: the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually.... - Perseverance: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. - Maturity: to bring to completion. *A fun fact, the #4 in the Bible means Creation and in another definition states, it indicates completeness * Often success is associated with tangible results and benefits, yet lack the understanding that success is a lifestyle, and the only tangible thing is You. Success is an aim to direct, instruct and achieve, therefore, success must be maintained, and thus have consistency. You have the ability to choose: - 1. to be successful daily, only you have control over the choices you make, no one else’s for then it’s merely influence - 2. to learn from failures and mistakes, rather than to continue on doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result = Insanity - 3. to not compete, but be confident to help one another accomplish goals/dreams, and be genuinely proud to know you took part in making it happen I have far more to learn, apply and share, therefore, I refuse to stray away from who I am. My roots run deep and are anchored in none other than Christ alone. I’m constantly reminded of why I started and why I must keep forward. @itsabidough was dreamt up, prayed over, and established with every intent to share a baking passion that was instilled in me through my late Mother, and is proudly supported by my Father. When you can define your why’s beyond personal gain, you’ll make every effort to succeed even when there’s not one acknowledgement/support, multiple failed attempts and constant disappointments. Nevertheless, 2020 has afforded me possibilities, in which I am privileged to have started, done or am currently maintaining. With that said... In honor and celebration of my 1 year wedding anniversary today, I’ll share our beautiful wedding cake Honestly this went against all Samoan tradition 1. My cake was black (I’m a very simple type of gal and though I love our culture & tradition, it was my wedding, so I pushed back as much as I could lol) ... 2. I wanted to do away with the clutter of the additional cakes to give away (Samoan tradition is to honor all pastors and any of family status - I had 19+ ), so I had my sister organize it to be placed on the side and pre-packed 3. The bottom tier was a dummy cake, since this was more for looks and was supposed to be for me to take home after, but it got confused and was hilarious to watch when it came to the honoring part of the reception. My poor uncle (Mom’s brother) did his absolute best, despite his goofy niece’s changes 4. The guests cake was separate and already cut from the kitchen and ready to be served by the hotel catering staff, but it just didn’t get communicated right That’s Polynesian weddings for you, and I wouldn’t change it for anything Long story longer: I didn’t get to eat any of my cake, or even take any of it home, but I truly love the decision I made to push back to this very day Husband: @johnagramz Sister/Wedding Coordinator: @tilo.masele Cake: @madewithlovebyjodi Photographer: @_zoevisuals_
