Wait...already? Times flies when you're having fun in the ISU Network! Happy October everybody!

I feel the need, the need for speed! said the great Maverick in Top Gun. Last Thursday a small group of East Coast ISU Members and some friends of ours from Johnson and Johnson MGA in Mt. Pleasant gathered in Greenville, SC eager to head over to the BMW Performance Center the next day. Eighteen brave souls geared up to enjoy a day on the track, but not before chowing down on a hearty, beefy meal aSaskatoon Steaks, Fish & Wild GamemeThursday evening. We’re talking mouth-wa...tering cuts of elk, buffalo, antelope, kangaroo, alligator and ostrich. Bright and early on Friday, the enthusiastic crowd departed for some classroom time at the BMW Performance Center. Nervous anticipation turned into adrenaline and everyone had a Personal Best. After the classroom, our group headed out to the track to race BMW M Class (their hot rod line) competition cars. Our team ran a rat race, drag race, did doughnuts around the skid pad and raced timed trials. While driving sounds like an easy feat, driving a car built for competition around a fast track and keeping yourself safe is an exhausting mental exercise. Our famished drivers continued with the Bavarian theme into the evening. Continuing with our German theme we celebrated everyone’s brave accomplishments at the authentic Der Schwaben Haus with an early Octoberfest. Thanks to Johnson & Johnson Insurance for not only driving like maniacs, but also underwriting a portion of our experience. These photos don’t do our experience justice! Shake 'n Bake Baby!

From August 31st to September 3rd, with the health and safety of our staff a TOP priority, the ISU Events Team successfully executed our first hybrid staff retreat during these precarious months. We were careful to obey the City and County of Charleston's Coronavirus Guidelines, as well as all safety protocols required #belmondcharlestonPlace. ISU colleagues traveled from California, Virginia, Indiana, Minnesota and North Carolina. We toured our new East Coast HQ (on schedu...le for 10/8 opening) at Ferry Wharf conveniently located on the Charleston Harbor at the base of #TheRavenelBridge Another dozen staff members joined us remotely via Zoom for team building and goal-setting, tech tech training as well as annual strategic planning in order to maximize our network strengths. We also had the pleasure of enjoying each others' company (physically distant of course) throughout the week. We enjoyed cocktails on TJ and Andrea’s spacious Mt. Pleasant porch while we Zoomed in our virtual teammates. Taking a brief drive out to the Isle of Palms, we watched a beautiful sunset over the intracoastal waterway while dining on lowcountry specialities. Our last day was open for Covid style sight seeing - meaning small groups and lots of hand sanitizer. That evening we enjoyed one last sunset overlooking the Ashley River, Joe Riley Stadium and The Citadel, the Military College of SC , before sitting down to dinner at the #harbourclubatWestEdge. We’re grateful to the staff the Belmond Charleston Place for the accommodations and the ultra hygienic meeting space - 1800 sq.ft for 12 folks. Now that’s spacious!
