It’s been over six months since we announced our closure and a lot of people have asked what we’ve been up to. Well, it’s time for an update! We will only be processing orders for ONE MORE WEEK! The LAST DAY to place orders will be Friday, December 11th! ... This will allow us time to ship everything out to you and make sure you receive your items before we shut things down. Unfortunately, we still have significant financial obligations because of ISSUES, which we will be carrying for quite some time. Any purchase you make now will help us to alleviate this burden. We are so thankful for your support. To make things even more exciting for you, we have arranged the following specials: all Moleskine notebooks are 25% off all t-shirts have been marked down to $15 (normally $25) all ISSUES caps have been marked down to $15 (normally $20) use code ISSUESFOREVER for FREE US SHIPPING at checkout!!!! Thinking today of the 36 beautiful souls we lost on December 2, 2016. Four years have passed and it never gets any easier. A group of artists, musicians, and activists, these folx were the finest community members who brought this town together and created vibrancy and color in all of our lives. Our hearts go out to all of the families and friends of everyone we lost on that terrible day. We are especially thinking of our dear friend @invisiblepony today. Anyone who knew ...Kiyomi would agree with us when we say that she truly was the most extraordinary person. Passionate, curious, intelligent, compassionate, and so so much fun. She had a zest for life that was unparalleled and she brought so much joy to so many people from all walks of life. She was just incredibly kind and we miss her so, so much. Kiyomi, you inspire us to be better people. There is not a day that we do not think of you. Your bright light shines on, forever. #kiyomieternal #elsewhere See more

Dropped off some donations for @northoakland_mutualaid today at @omni.commons. I believe strongly in the work these folx are doing. I was speaking with a good friend of mine recently and the topics of inequity and access came up. She asked me what I thought she could do to help fight these injustices. My answer: mutual aid. If we all do what we can to share our resources with our neighbors (both housed and unhoused), we can help others in our immediate environment and make an... impact. This can extend into our shopping habits as well. Next time you are ordering some clothing or necessities online, throw in some items for @west.oakland.punks.with.lunch, who do amazing harm reduction work in our community. As you are thinking of family over the next couple of days, extend that gratitude to your local family and make a donation to @eastoaklandcollective, who are working tirelessly to provide meals, resources, and housing to the people. We are a strong, resilient community. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. Love, Noella See more

We just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the outpouring of support we have received since we announced our closure. These past few days have been emotionally exhausting for us, but reading all of your messages about how ISSUES has impacted your lives has been both heartwarming and heartbreaking. We have close to 100 personal messages from you all, and we plan to answer each of you individually. For now, please know that your kind words are helping to carry us thro...ugh a very difficult time. . Many people have asked how they can help with the devastating financial impact of our closure. Because of this, we have reluctantly decided to share our PayPal and Venmo account information. We can be reached on Venmo at @issuesshop (Noella Teele) or PayPal at [email protected] (Clyde Colley, Joe’s legal name). We have no expectations as far as donations go, so please know we are grateful for any assistance, but we do not feel comfortable asking for help. We are just so grateful for all of you and this community that has made the past 13 years of our lives so great. . Thank you everyone again for your support during this extremely difficult time. We love you. xoxo Noella & Joe See more

ISSUES 11.09.2020

To our dear friends, family, and community, We started ISSUES in 2007 in a small shop in our own neighborhood because we loved print and believed in community. This was at a time when everyone was saying that 'print is dead' and that the written word would soon only be available electronically. We believed otherwise and created a space where print was not only accessible, but thrived. We brought in rare magazines from all over the world as well as domestic favorites. In addit...Continue reading

This is Rachel, with her girl Cali. In the next slide is Andrew, with DeeDee. Both of them work at ISSUES three days a week, while maintaining other jobs to make ends meet. Both of them are artists and musicians, as well as really stand-up Oakland residents that believe in community. And they truly are the NICEST PEOPLE. All of their workplaces are now closed. We are committed to supporting these fine folks during this time, by continuing to pay them while ISSUES is closed. O...ne way you can help is to purchase a gift certificate now for use when the shop reopens. Link in bio! Thank you so much to everyone that has already bought one from us online! We are so grateful. Because of you, we are able to take care of our staff and provide a little bit of security during these uncertain times. Together, we can get through this. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
