The days are getting shorter so we added some motion sensor lights in the container.

Crane Cove Park in San Francisco's District 10 recently opened up! A big shoutout to members of Islais Creek Dragon Boat Training Centre , Kayaks Unlimited, and Bay Area Sea Kayaker for being front and center. Check out 0:51 in the video!

Unfortunately, we were victims of a break-in yesterday. At 7am on Monday, October 12, 2020 we discovered that someone left the gate open. Someone cut the lock. Someone stole our marathon canoe and Kayaks Unlimited's kayak out of the enclosure. Someone destroyed the shelving units for the bees. This is horrible and we are scared for our other boats at the site. Please donate to our site in our Gofundme campaign for new boats. We are going to be securing our boats with cable ...locks moving forward. We will work with local authorities and district supervisor @shamannwalton to help patrol and safeguard the area. We will continue working with @sfwater and @sf_port to get better lighting in the area to hopefully discourage these acts of stealing. Thank you everyone! gf.me/u/xqd9m7

Thanks to everyone's generosity and investment in the training centre's youth, we have been able to purchase one @kaiwaacanoes Oc2 Gemini. Thanks @norcaloutrigger for the hookup! We have just transported the boat to the site. We cannot wait until Covid protocols in San Francisco gets relaxed and we can start bringing out new paddlers and youth again. @londonbreed @sf_port @sfwater Our fundraiser is still in needs of more donations, so if you're able to, please don't hesitate to contribute! #geminiOC2

A quick site cleanup... due to limited usage, our site is getting quite trashed by passerbys. We'll slowly keep trying to clean up when we are around and hope that we can keep the place neat and tidy. @sf_port @sfwater

What a wonderful accomplishment. We can't wait for @sf_port to open up Crane Cove Park to the public for more boating access. Today, members of Islais Creek Dragon Boat Training Center (ICDBTC), Kayaks Unlimited (KU), and Bay Area Sea Kayakers (BASK) launched from Islais Creek to Crane Cove.

A big shoutout to all the firefighters working tirelessly to put out the wildfires. Air quality in the Bay Area is starting to improve now. So much ash and debris have collected on our boats. We definitely need to give them all a good wash now! Unfortunately, due to Covid, we still aren't taking on new members and current members can only take out OC1s. Keep masks on, social distance, and focus on lowering case counts.

As of June 15, San Francisco will be allowing outdoor fitness with social distancing. Kayaks Unlimited will be resuming padding activities with social distancing and ICDBTC will be resuming paddling for OC1s only*. At this time, we will not be taking on new members since we risk ourselves if there needs to be a rescue. Please note, the buddy rule still applies. *Social distance cannot be safely maintained inside an OC2. We will wait until Phase 3 to allow usage of OC2s. (then... mentees can come out again!) A windy day at Islais Creek. Can't wait til we beat COVID19 and open up site again.

Fortunately, Mentor Joseph and mentee Rafa set up a session before the Shelter-in-place order last week. Now we wait until things calm down before we take the mentees out and train again. Stay home and stay healthy!
