Did you know Halloween dates back to an ancient Celtic festival? The night before their new year on November 1st, they believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth on their New Year's Eve, October 31st. In present day, Halloween is typically celebrated by dressing up in costumes and going "trick or treating." This year, the CDC suggests not participating in giving out candy to trick-or-treaters. Check out our post from earlier in the week for family-friendly alternatives. The social cue indicating whether or not you want to participate is your porch light. Porch light on = come knock for candy ; Porch light off = not participating in trick-or-treating.
