CSUCI International Programs 02.06.2021

Hi guys! This is Mina. I am an international student from Japan and one of those who remained in my dorm for some reasons. Here is less people, but I’m not alone because I call my friends every day and have been enjoying my time here. Especially, I started playing the ukulele and it’s so fun! Island café still provides us meals and town center market opens every other day so I don’t have to go out to get foods and groceries and I can keep me safe and healthy. I really appreci...ate CI’s support and those who work on campus to help me. I’m going back home after this semester and I’m sad about it, but also very thankful to everyone I’ve met here! (I miss you all) CI is one of my home and I love this environment and people here! I’d like to come back after the virus thing! So please please stay safe and healthy till we’ll be able to meet again! I’ll be sending love from Japan There are no storms we can’t weather! (But before that, I hope everyone will get through finals) #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuciip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy

Hi. My name is Ricaley Madayag, but mostly known as Ley. I am an international student from Philippines. During this pandemic, it was pretty hard transitioning. Unfortunately, I am one of the international students who was not able to make it home to see my family however I am grateful to be currently staying with relatives here at Camarillo. I am currently living with my cousins and niece and nephew , who you can see is the adorable little boy in my pictures. Now that the si...tuation is improving, its easier to keep a positive view of things. As most of you might not know but I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and have sort of already lived in quarantine my whole life due to the culture there. So the feeling of having to be stuck at home is not new to me. I can't deny that I miss my family and friends though. Classes have been going well however it has been a little stressful due to the sudden transition and how most professors are not used to technology so it was hard to adjust. I was able to spend a couple days visiting other relatives and get some time away from the computer to chill for a little while. Now that finals are coming up, its starting to go back to the hectic schedule. But a positive update is that some of us international students have been keeping communication and still conducting group studies together virtually. I hope everyone is doing well with preparation for finals. I hope everything will be over soon and students will be able to freely visit their family. Again. Stay home and stay safe and don't forget to wash your hands. This will be over soon so lets all keep our heads high #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuiip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy

Hi all! I’m Donghyun Kim(Mario) from South Korea. I’m senior and my major is Political Science. I’m came back Seoul about a month ago because of the COVID-19. I did 2 weeks of self quarantine, and now I’m free! I know because of COVID-19, the whole world is suffering:( These Days, Korea is getting way better, and almost come back to normal life. We still wear mask and keep social distance though. I hope all of this passes and everything comes back to normal as soon as possib...leAlthough It was only 2 months in CI, I really had wonderful time thanks to my roommates and friends! I miss them so bad! Another thing I miss is the peaceful atmosphere of CI, because I live in a crowded city, and my apartment is surrounded by another apartments I miss peaceful and quiet mood of CI even though it is boring sometimes What I missed in CI was Korean food. Of course I like In&Out, foods from CI cafeteria, but Korean food is the best for me! I took a picture of Korean barbeque restaurant that I went with my family last week. If I have a chance, I want to have Korean food with you guys and also want to eat traditional foods of other countries. I hope you guys are doing well, stay safe, stay healthy! #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuiip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy

Hi, this is Naomi from Chiba, Japan. I have been in quarantine for a month now. The situation in Japan is still having many cases a day. Due to the efforts of health care workers, the death rate remains low. There would be people who are getting tired of this current situation, but I believe we can go through it together. Please take care and stay safe :) #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuiip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy

Hi! This is Azusa from Japan. I hope you are doing well in the current situation. In Japan, the government declared a national emergency from the beginning of April to May. We can’t go out without necessities and many restaurants started to only take out. The number of cases are increasing day by day. There are over 10,000 cases now in Japan. So, we must still be alert to the current situation. There are no cases in my hometown, but there are over 100 cases in the prefectur...e. Therefore, people in my hometown are more sensitive if the virus come in the town or not. Although we can get toilet paper (there is a limitation), it’s still hard to get masks. So my mother makes masks all the day and sell them. I know many people are in troubles because they had to stop their work. However, we have smartphones and we can talk with friends anytime! In my case, I sometimes hold online drinking parties with my friends I strongly hope this terrible situation will be over as soon as possible and be free. #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuiip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy

Hi, my name is Seoyi and I am an international student from South Korea. Since I came back to Korea from the U.S., I have been living almost only at home because of the coronavirus. But the quarantine period has recently ended. So I went to see cherry blossoms and went to a restaurant to celebrate my sister’s birthday with my family. Sadly, however, cherry blossoms are almost gone. Today is the voting day for the general election, so I voted. Everyone had to wear a mask to vo...te. I put on plastic gloves and checked my body temperature before entering the polling station. It was impressive to me many people moving according to the rules to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Also, I was surprised by the good medical system of Korea. I did coronavirus test for free and the city hall staff contacted me every day to check my health. Because I am an entrant from abroad. I really hope that the coronavirus will disappear as soon as possible as many people are working hard. #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuiip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy

Hi there. I’m Mayuko from Osaka, Japan. I’m a junior at California State University Channel Island. I took a flight to Japan a few weeks ago and now I’m in self-quarantine at home. This is the hard situation for everyone in the world. It could happen to anyone. It’s not someone else’s problem. Let’s support each other to save our loved ones’ safe. Hope everyone stays safe and healthy. See you soon. P.S. I took these photos of cherry blossoms when I went for a walk. So beautiful, isn’t it?:) #csuci #csuciinternational #CSUCIabroad #csuip #internationalprograms #internationalstudents #studyabroad #wearestillhere #csuiip #stayhome #staysafe #stayhealthy #Japan #Osaka
