ITC piloted an afterschool academy at Griffin Elementary with 20 students during the 2015-16 year, with the goal of helping students reach grade level proficiency. Our program is completely and holistically academics-driven, from homework assistance/tutoring, 1-on-1 tailored interventions, and STEM and service learning. We know that educational equity is a clear way to improve the quality of life for our families and are committed to providing the support that is often missin...g in overcrowded classrooms and non-English speaking homes. In just one year, our program produced amazing results -- every participant improved in grades and schoolwide tests (DIBELS, SBAC, progress reports), and 5 out of 8 ELL students reclassified! Furthermore, as compared to their counterparts that were performing at the same level at the beginning of the school year, our participants showed greater gains by the end of the school year, particularly in Math. This 2016-17 academic year, we doubled to 40 students. Our nonprofit is small, but making tangible and direct impact on the families it serves! Our students are awesome!! After weeks of rehearsals, they performed "The Legend of the Poinsettia" to family and friends at our Family Holiday Program on 12/9/16! What a great performance! See more here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/

Friends and Supporters! This #GivingTuesday, consider donating to ITC! Today only, EVERY dollar donated will be matched, up to $13,000!!! This is a HUGE gift and we need to take full advantage of it, especially since we are still 25% behind in our yearly budget! Please consider sharing it on your wall, or send via email to people who love Lincoln Heights, care about social and educational equity in underserved communities, and want to make a difference with their finances. Thanks for the love!

In October 2016, ITC expanded its afterschool academy to 20 additional 2nd and 3rd grade students from Griffin Elementary. We continue to provide necessary support to help students reach grade level proficiency, increasing opportunities for a thriving future for their families. It's been exciting to witness the students' enthusiasm as they receive timely and personalized support and attention! We are still about 30% short of our operating budget for the year. Please consider giving and supporting a very bare bones budget that will ensure your gift making a DIRECT impact on our students and families. Thank you!
