We've had a jam-packed last few days with our Building Industries at Sierra College bootcamp students. First, we'd like to thank Griselda, the HR Director, at I...nterior Logic Group who volunteered her time to go over what a strong resume looks like as these students prepare for the working world. We held the resume workshop over zoom and gave these students an opportunity to experience what a potential zoom interview would look like! Then we had Shaneen with Alcal Specialty Contracting who came in to discuss the opportunities with Alcal. Students saw what goes into fabricating glass windows and doors, as well as insulation and garage doors. We also had Diane from Western Electrical Contractors Association (WECA) who discussed the options available for electrical apprenticeships. The students learned what pathways they could take as well as the pros of becoming a journeyman! Lastly, our students got to tour Cosentino's warehouse and see the final stages of homebuilding where finishing touches are selected. The warehouse showed different granite and quartz materials that buyers choose for their homes. Thank you so much to these four amazing companies who volunteered their time to give the students a better idea of #CareersinConstruction!
