An easy way to see if your tube is generating x-rays is to open a cassette on a table, adjust the collimator filament, stand where you can see the screen, and make an exposure of 20 mAs and 80 kV. If the screen lights up, your x-ray machine is working.
Protective devices in X-ray rooms should be checked annually for defects, such as holes, cracks, or tears. This check can be done by visually inspecting or feeling the protective devices.
All the components that you clean will need to be completely dry before they are re-installed in your x-ray machine. Cleaning at the end of your work week and allowing the parts to dry over the weekend is advisable.
The x-ray tube houses both the cathode (negative terminal) and the anode (positive or ground terminal) under high-vacuum conditions. The high vacuum reduces the problem of the electrons colliding with and being absorbed by air molecules and provides electrical insulation between the cathode and anode.
Built by Wilhelm Rontgen in early 1896, the first medical x-ray machine required patients to sit for more than an hour to be scanned. Not only that, but people received 1,500 times the radiation as today's machines put out, and the pictures still came out fuzzy.
Medical x-rays are produced when a stream of fast electrons come to a sudden stop at a metal plate. The images produced are due to the different absorption rates of different tissues, allowing the medical professional to get a good look at what's inside.
If you need to sell, service, repair, or install an x-ray machine, we're the people for the job. No matter what type of x-ray machines you have, we can take care of it 24/7.
Class 1 x-ray films offer the highest signal-to-noise ratio available. These are considered high-detail resolution films and are ideal in situations where the most sensitive radiograph is desired.
If you are within six feet of the fluoroscopic unit or within six feet of the patient during an X-ray exam, you need to wear a lead apron that is 0.5 lead equivalent at 100 kV for conventional C-Arm units or stationary units.
If your x-ray film is coming out too light, it could be the x-ray producer or the darkroom, including the processor and environment. If the film comes out too dark, there could be a leak that needs to be fixed immediately.
When it comes to x-ray cassettes, they play a central role in the entire x-ray process. It's important to have fully functional x-ray cassettes to obtain the best images.
A densitometer is a part of an x-ray machine that measures the darkness of a photograph. Basically, it's a light source aimed at a photoelectric cell that determines the density of a sample put between the light source and photoelectric cell.
If the film comes out clear on an x-ray, give us a call to service it. Most likely, the problem is depleted developer and not your x-ray machine.
