We will be open starting next week!- New updated procedures: We are planning to begin seeing patients starting on Tuesday, May 5 and we are implementing several new procedures to comply with CDC and Government Guidelines and Precautions. Here are some key features:... --Patients are asked to stay home if they are experiencing illness (even if its just allergies), are having symptoms of flu or virus, have been confirmed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or have had any contact with someone who has been confirmed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Additionally, those with compromised or weak immune systems are encouraged to stay home a bit longer. We advise telehealth sessions and herbal medicine for these patients. --We will be wearing a mask and ask that you do as well. We ask that you use the hand sanitizer in the treatment room when you arrive and when you leave or wash your hands for 20 seconds in the restroom. --Patients will have their temperature taken and will be screened for COVID-19 upon arrival. No patient will receive a treatment if their temperature is over 99.2 degrees Fahrenheit. --We will offer limited appointment times in week 1 to iron out procedures. We will get everyone scheduled who wants a treatment, but may not be able to accommodate everyone week 1. --We will only have one person in the clinic at the time and there will be no waiting in the lobby. I ask that you wait in your car or outside until we come to get you. We also ask that you have family members wait for you in the car or outside unless you require assistance. --We are allowing additional time between patients for sanitizing rooms and we are implementing higher level cleaning practices We will sanitize everything between treatments. We will alternate treatment rooms so there is adequate time for air cleaning and sanitation. Scheduling Appointments I know there are some of you dealing with severe pain, anxiety and other issues and need treatment. I would like to accommodate these patients first if possible. Dr. Heidi Kao and Maki Hoshino will be seeing patients over the next few weeks so feel free to email, call or book online. Thank you so much for your support and understanding during these difficult times. If any of this is unclear, please reach out to me. Together we will get through this and will get you back on track toward health.

A little note from Gary Chapmen, author of "The 5 Love Languages". In the midst of all this, one thing hasn't changedour human desire to love and to be loved. As more and more people go into self-quarantine and isolation, this emotional need will become even more amplified. So how can we continue to meet the needs of our friends and loved ones during this time? Here are a few thoughts based of each of the five love languages:... Words of Affirmation: Digital technology is wonderful, but remember you can level up a kind or encouraging word by sending more than a text message or email. Try sending a short video or audio message. Just seeing your face and hearing the inflections in your voice will make your words even more powerful. Acts of Service: Check in on others frequentlycall, message, or text. If you are able, drop off some food or other necessities (practicing social distance, of course) that you may have an excess of. Needs are everywhere, you simply have to reach out to discover them. Don't get overwhelmed into inaction trying to meet everybody's need, just focus on one person and one need at a time. Gifts: If you are involved in a faith, friend, or neighborhood community, create an online group specializing in random acts of kindness. Challenge each other to post needs and try to come together to meet them. You may not have something to offer, but maybe someone in your group does. Team up and provide some meaningful gifts to those who could use a little pick-me-up. You'll also find working together as a group will encourage all involved. (Note: If you know any new homeschooling parents, here's a great resource that may help them fulfill a health requirement.) Quality Time: During times of isolation and self-quarantine, quality time may look different. Maybe you are not meeting with that friend at the coffee shop, but why not video chat while drinking coffee together. You may not be able to the movies, but you could set up a watch party on Netflix using this chrome plug-in: Netflix Party. Grab some popcorn and enjoy a show together. Physical Touch: Technology has played a crucial role in the midst of this pandemic with many people and organizations offering free videos and content for people stuck at home. Make sure you are taking (and making) time to connect physically with your loved one and children if you are limited to your house. Give a shoulder rub to your spouse while they work on the computer at home. Cozying up near your children as you read them a book. Just be mindful to break from the digital routine for some good, old fashioned connection via physical touch.

Hey everyone I wanted to share a few tidbits of information you may find interesting from people I admire: Since our understanding of the virus and its impact is changing on a daily basis, it’s important to stay informed. That said, one thing is already clear: COVID-19 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. We’re in for more of a marathon than a sprint.... However, there are a few possible positives. No new cases in China For the first time since the outbreak started, China had a 24-hour period with no new cases. Death rate in China lower than thought While earlier estimates for the death rate of COVID-19 ranged between 23.4 percent, the most recent estimate has fallen to 1.4 percent. I suspect that the true rate is even lower, because it’s likely that many asymptomatic patients were never tested. Some existing drugs showing promise Scientists have found that some existing medications may be helpful in the treatment of COVID-19. These include chloroquine (an old anti-malaria drug), azithromycin (an antibiotic), favipiravir (a Japanese flu drug), and tocilizumab (an anti-inflammatory). COVID-19 presents us with an opportunity to adapt and grow We’re living in a time of great uncertainty and stress. If we’re not careful, we can all-too-easily become overwhelmed and consumed by anxiety and fear. But COVID-19 is only the most obvious and pressing of many things in our modern world that threaten our longevity and wellness. Our modern environment has changed so much faster than our genome, that it is important for all of us to be proactive and informed about how to stay healthy despite these modern challenges. The good news is that there’s a lot we can do to build resilience, optimize our health, and yes, even cultivate more joy even in the midst of the challenging circumstances we find ourselves in. As always I am here for anyone who needs to talk and my clinic remains open providing services via phone and video appointment.
